SACRED HEART -- The Milroy Yankees pulled away in the eighth inning of their road matchup against Sacred Heart for a 5-1 win Friday night.
The Yankees led 2-1 through seven innings but struck three times in the top of the eighth to really put the game away.
Parker Schmitt took the mound for Milroy and threw a complete game. He allowed just one run in the fourth inning and held Sacred Heart to five hits and six walks. He also struck out 10 batters.
Colten Minkel was the sole Yankee with an extra-base hit in the game, hitting a double and going on to score a run. He also walked and reached base after being hit by a pitch.
No Yankees had multiple hits in the game, but Branden Flock, Zach Leibfried, Aaron Mathiowetz, Brock Schultz and Jacob Hughes each had a single in the game.
The Milroy Yankees (8-3) will next play Sunday when they go on the road to play Wabasso at 5 p.m,
