MARSHALL — The Murray County Central baseball team was well-represented in the Marshall Independent All-Area team when it was announced on Friday. 

The Rebels, whose season ended in the 3A Section Tournament’s elimination bracket finals, had three first-team selections — Christian Tentinger, Derek Kluis and Abe Paulzine — as well as Krew Schneider on the second team. Connor DeGreef and Carter Benda were also acknowledged as honorable mentions.

With the exception of Schneider, all of the MCC players selected were seniors, giving the Rebels a whole new look next season.

The 3A Section champion Yellow Medicine East Sting also had a pair of first-teamers in Bryce Sneller and Cody Dahlager. Sneller and Dahlager both excelled as dominant pitchers and hitters. Their two-way teammate Drew Almich received a second-team nod.

While the Wabasso Rabbits struggled at times this season, senior pitcher Adryen Tietz was nothing short of spectacular as both a pitcher and a hitter. He earned first-team honors while his teammate Joe Liebl — also a two-way player — was recognized on the second team.

The Marshall Tigers had three selections. Ace pitcher Parker Schmitt received first-team honors for his excellence on the mound — though his two home runs as a batter certainly didn’t hurt him, either — while the heart of the Tigers’ lineup was recognized with senior sluggers Lincoln Graven and Andrew Wallen making the second team. 

The Independent will release its Player of the Year on June 23.
