Longsox fall short vs. New Ulm

MILROY — The Lamberton Longsox’s late-game rally wasn’t enough to put them on top in their matchup against New Ulm Tuesday night, falling 11-4 in the Irish Yard.

Lamberton scored each of its four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. After a groundout started the inning, Isaac Jenniges and Sam Kleven singled consecutively before Ashton Juhnke walked to load the bases.

Hudsen Jenniges drove in the Longsox’s first run of the game on a fielder’s choice and Neil Eichten doubled to drive in another two. Jacob Jenniges then singled to make the score 4-11. Yet, a strikeout following Luke Willhite’s walk ended the game.

Lamberton held New Ulm scoreless for the first two innings. The runs started trickling in with one in each of the third and fourth before the Brewers blew the game open. They scored twice in the fifth before a four-run sixth gave them an 8-0 lead.

Eichten pitched the first 3 1/3 innings before being relieved by Willhite for the next 1 2/3.

Lamberton (2-4) will play again on Sunday, going on the road to face Essig at 1 p.m.

Starting at $3.95/week.
