Lakeview wins despite rally from LQPV 9-6

MADISON — The Lakeview baseball team held on despite a seventh-inning rally from Lac qui Parle Valley to defeat the Eagles 9-8 Thursday afternoon.
Ayden-St. Pierre pitched 6 2/3 innings on the day. He had held LQPV to three runs through six but the wheels came off the wagon in the seventh. Still, St. Pierre finished with a solid stat line of seven strikeouts while allowing nine hits, three walks and four earned runs.
Jordan Fischer and Caine Herigon each went long for Lakeview. Herigon also hit a double and drove in two runs while Fischer drove in three runs on the day.
Lincoln Vogel went 3-4 at the dish for Lakeview with a double and an RBI.
Fischer pitched 1/3 inning, allowing four runs, two hits and three walks.
Bralyn Breyfogle got two hits and drove in a run on the day.
The tight win snaps a three-game skid for Lakeview as they improve to 3-5. They’ll look to continue improving when they host Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian Saturday at 11 a.m.
KMS 4, TMB 1
SUNBURG — Solid pitching wasn’t enough for the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton baseball team Thursday afternoon as it fell 4-1 on the road against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.
TMB scored its lone run in the fourth inning. Jacob Meyer reached first base after being hit by a pitch. He stole second and advanced to third before Ashton Squires hit a sacrifice fly to score Meyer and tie the game at 1-1
The Panthers combined for two hits in the game, a first-inning single from Trevor Smith and a fourth-inning single from Espn Radke.
Smith started on the mound for the Panthers. He pitched four innings while allowing five hits and three runs, one of which was unearned. He also struck out four batters.
Noah Knakmuhs pitched two innings of relief and allowed one run and two hits.
KMS did most of its damage in the sixth inning. Each of the first four batters in the inning reached base before TMB switched pitchers. Still, the damage was done and the TMB bats couldn’t rally.
Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (4-5) will try to get back above .500 when it travels to Edgerton to take on Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian today at 4:30 p.m.
DB 6, Canby 0
CANBY — Tygan Long pitched seven shutout innings to lead the Dawson-Boyd baseball team to victory Thursday night, striking out seven batters en route to a 6-0 road win.
Long allowed seven hits and one walk on the night. Dawson-Boyd had two more hits than Canby but made the most of their opportunities to capitalize.
Aiden Swenson hit a double and drew a walk while driving in a run for the Blackjacks while Blake Thompson and Beau Johnson each singled twice. Johnson also drove in three runs.
Colton Ruether pitched three scoreless innings of relief for the Lancers. He struck out four batters while allowing two hits and two walks but couldn’t get the run support for the comeback win.
Bryant Hansen doubled in the game for Canby while Blake Hiedeman singled and drew a walk.
Sawyer Drietz started on the mound for Canby, pitching four innings while striking out five. He allowed six runs on seven hits and four walks, but two of the runs were unearned.
Dawson-Boyd (4-2) has won four of its last five and will try to keep its momentum rolling when it hosts Renville County West Monday at 4:30 p.m.
Canby (0-8) will look to right the ship when they host Lac qui Parle Valley on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
RRC/WWG 7, E/SWC 3
EDGERTON — The Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove withstood a three-run seventh inning from Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian to hang on for a 7-3 win in Edgerton Thursday afternoon.
The Falcons’ offense came out swinging from the first pitch. Following a leadoff groundout, Quintyn Vold, Ashton Juhnke, Isaac Simonson and Hudsen Jenniges reached base consecutively to establish themselves at the plate. Vold singled before scoring on a wild pitch, Simonson reached on an error and Juhnke and Jenniges each singled. Jenniges’ single drove in Simonson and Juhnke before consecutive groundouts stopped the bleeding.
Juhnke started on the mound for RRC and pitched lights-out. He threw five scoreless innings, surrendering four hits and six walks while striking out four. He also singled in the top of the seventh, making him the only RRC/WWG player with multiple hits.
Vold pitched two innings of relief. He threw three strikeouts in the sixth but got himself into a jam in the seventh, allowing three runs before forcing a flyout and a strikeout to end the game.
E/SWC held RRC/WWG scoreless for three innings before the Falcons’ bats reawakened in the fourth. Jayden Lang singled to start the inning before eventually scoring on a wild pitch and Jake Jackson singled before scoring on a Simonson single.
In the sixth, Keaton Skarupa hit a leadoff single, Carter Therkilsen reached on an error, and Lang hit a grounder to drive in a run.
RRC/WWG (5-3) will host Minneota in its next game Friday at 4:30 p.m.
MCC 12, HLOF 0 (5)
SLAYTON — The Murray County Central baseball team made the most of its opportunities to secure a 12-0 blowout win over Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda in five innings Thursday afternoon.
While MCC had six hits and six walks, their ability to capitalize on HLOF’s five errors made the difference. MCC had scored one run in each of the first three innings before exploding for nine in the bottom of the fourth.
The Coyotes had one last chance to keep the game going in the top of the fifth but went down in order to secure the shutout.
Dylan Kluis pitched the no-hitter for the Rebels. He walked two batters while striking out ten in the contest.
No Rebels had multiple base hits in the game, but Carter Benda and Christian Tentinger each had a double. Tentinger also tied Aiden Dierks with a team-high two RBIs.
Murray County Central (6-1) will look for its fifth straight win when it hosts Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
