Five-run 8th powers Yanks past Willmar

After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, the Milroy Yankees mounted an eighth-inning comeback to take down Willmar at Yankee Field 8-4 on Friday night.
Trailing 4-3 heading into the bottom of the eighth, everything started to click for the Yankees. Aaron Mathiowetz started the rally with a single to score Brock Schultz and tie the game. From there, Jake Tauer gave the Yankees the lead with an RBI single and Andy Schmidt reached on an error to score Braydin Kvistero.
The Yankees still weren't satisfied with a 6-4 lead, though. David Schmidt singled to score Tauer and Branden Flock reached on an error to score Schmidt and increase the Yankee lead to 8-4.
The Rails went three-up, three-down in the top of the ninth to secure the victory for Milroy.
Ty Kemp started on the mound for Milroy, pitching 4 2/3 before being relieved. He allowed one earned run, as well as two unearned runs, while striking out seven batters.
Mathiowetz closed out the game on the mound with four scoreless innings. He struck out three batters while allowing no hits and one walk.
Tauer and Mathiowetz each had a pair of hits for the Yankees. Flock was the only Yankee with multiple RBIs.
Milroy will get back in action when it hosts Marshall at Yankee Field on Sunday at 5 p.m.
