The Marshall Independent 2022-23 girls basketball All-Area Team drew from a variety of schools. Eight different schools were represented in the 10 players to make the first and second teams.

Section champions Marshall and Minneota were the only schools with multiple selections, excluding honorable mentions.

Bri Simpson, Marshall’s well-rounded point guard, made the first team and Randi Wendorff, the Tigers’ efficient forward, made the second team.

For Minneota, Ireland Stassen’s ability to stuff the stat sheet earned her a first-team nod and Grace Hennen’s ability to space the floor landed her on the second team.

Westbrook-Walnut Grove guard and area scoring champion Izzy Klumper made the first team while two of her teammates, Addeson Jenniges and Natalie Wahl, landed on the honorable mention list.

Jordan Munson of Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and Hannah Stark of Yellow Medicine East rounded out the All-Area first team.

Sondra Rindfleisch, the area’s leading rebounder, made second-team All-Area.

The Independent will release its girls basketball player of the year in the weekender on April 22.
