Marshall boys golf wins by three strokes vs. Trojans
WORTHINGTON –The Marshall boys golf team edged past Worthington by three strokes to pick up a dual road victory Friday afternoon, 158-161.
Luke Ehlers led the charge for Marshall, scoring a 36 on the day to put him two strokes ahead of the second-place finishers.
Worthington’s Logan Powers and Tyler Jaycox tie for second, but the Tigers had each of the next two low scorers to remain in control of the team scores. Jayden Manthei finished one stroke behind Worthington’s top duo with a 38 while Sam Schwarz scored a 41 to finish fifth in the tournament.
Joey Fossum tied Worthington’s Andrew Mulder for sixth place with a 42 to round out Marshall’s scorers and keep the Tigers on top.
The Marshall boys golf team will next compete in a Big South division tournament at Luverne Country Club on Monday at 4 p.m.

WORTHINGTON — Despite a big day from freshman Dayton Webskowski, the Marshall girls golf team was unable to come out on top in its road dual Friday against Worthington, falling 196-202.
Webskowski had the low score of the day, shooting a 46.
Grace Ehlers was Marshall’s No. 2 on the day, tying for third with Worthington’s Madison Beckmann with a 49. She finished two strokes back of Worthington’s low scorer, Lilly Mahlberg.
The difference in the tournament was Worthington’s depth. Their third and fourth scorers finished three strokes ahead of Marshall’s third.
Jaryn Hilgemann returned to varsity with a 53 while Eryn Kraft rounded out the Tigers’ scorers with a 54.
“We had a much better day today,” Marshall head coach Nancy Blanchard said. “Overall, I was pleased with our play. It’s been a busy week, so it’s good to see the scores coming down.”
The Marshall girls golf team will next compete in a Big South division tournament at Windom County Club on Monday at 4 p.m.
