Mustangs WBB signs five athletes to 2023 recruiting class

MARSHALL — Southwest Minnesota State University head women’s basketball coach Tom Webb announced today his 2023-24 recruiting class with five high school student-athletes signing letters of intent to continue their academic and basketball careers at SMSU.

Joining the program for the 2023-24 season include Brynn Busse from Winthrop, Brylee Iverson from Dodge Center, Allison Milbrandt from Stewart, and twins Christina and Elizabeth Wagner from Luverne.

Busse, a 5-foot-6 guard at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop High School, is a three-year all-conference honoree and four-year letterwinner. She has scored more than 1,300 points in her career, ranking third in school history.

Busse has also collected 433 rebounds, 300 assists and 266 steals. She is a three-time all-conference honoree in volleyball and has made nine academic all-conference teams and an academic all-state team while participating in volleyball, basketball and track.

Iverson, a 6-foot forward at Triton High School, is a three-time all-conference and all-area second team honoree. She holds school records for points (567). made field goals (219), made 3-pointers (56) and points per game (21.8) in a season, and has scored over 1,000 points in her career. She is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, and holds a GPA over 3.9.

Milbrandt, a 5-foot-11 guard at Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart High School, is a four-year letter winner and three-time all-conference honoree for the Mustangs. She has averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds 3.6 assists during her senior season.

A two-time academic all-conference honoree, Milbrandt is also a three-time letter winner in volleyball and was all-conference in the 300 hurdles in track last spring.

Christina Wagner, a 6-foot-1 forward at Luverne High School, averaged 8.5 points, five rebounds, three steals, and three blocks per game as a junior in earning all-conference honorable mention. She has scored over 500 points, grabbed over 340 rebounds, and recorded 200 blocks in her career.

Christina is a member of the National Honor Society and on the A Honor Roll. She has earned five letters across volleyball, track, and basketball.

Elizabeth Wagner, a 6-foot forward at Luverne High School, averaged 20 points, 7.2 rebounds and four steals per game, earning all-conference honors in her junior season. She has scored over 850 points, grabbed over 480 rebounds, and recorded over 240 steals in her career.

Elizabeth is also a member of the National Honor Society, and on the A Honor Roll. She also excelled in Track, becoming a state champion in the 4x800m relay, and finished third in track in the 4x400mm relay.
