TMB Sweeps Trojans

Volleyball round-up

TRACY — Tracy-Milroy-Balaton made quick work of Ortonville in their home volleyball match Tuesday night, holding the Trojans to fewer than ten points in each of the three sets in the sweep.

Grace Dolan and Kamryn Petersen both had big defensive games for the Panthers, finishing with 15 and 14 digs respectively. Jordan Munson led the team in digs with 12, while Ella Kamrud added another nine. Hailey Gernentz had a team-high 32 set assists.

Following the win, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (21-6) will await the start of the section tournament beginning next week.

Wabasso 3, Westbrook-Walnut Grove 0

WABASSO — The Wabasso Rabbits swept the Chargers in their Tuesday night home volleyball match, largely on the strength of 13 kills from Alivia Olson.

Aside from Olson, Avery Carlson also made a difference offensively with six kills. Carlson’s defensive efforts were even more valuable, as she led the team with 18 digs. Natasha Doubler added in another 16 digs, as well as three aces. Kelsey Frank led the Rabbits with 30 assists.

Natalie Wahl’s 15 kills for the Chargers was a game-high. Wahl also had eight digs, putting her in a tie with Macie Christians and Isabella Rentschler for most among WWG players. Addeson Jenniges’ led the Chargers with 28 assists.

Following the win, Wabasso sits at 17-7 on the season, while Westbrook-Walnut Grove is 14-10. Both will play their next game next week in the sectional tournament.

Minneota 3, Renville County West 0

MINNEOTA — The Minneota Vikings steamrolled their way through Renville County West to conclude their volleyball teams’ regular season with a 3-0 sweep.

The offense came from all over for the Vikings, as five players finished with at least five kills. Leading the way was Ella Johnson with 12, while Megan Krog, Emma Bottelberghe, and Elivia faris each added another six. Defensively, Lyzah Sussner and Ireland Stassen led the way with 14 and eight digs respectively. Stassen also had a team-high 27 set assists.

Minneota finishes their season at 27-3 and will resume play in next week’s section tournament.

Worthington 3, Red Rock Central 2

LAMBERTON — The Red Rock Central volleyball team wasn’t able to walk away with a win in their regular-season finale against Worthington on their home court Tuesday night.

The Falcons won the first set and squeaked out a win in set three to take a 2-1 lead, but they dropped the fourth set 25-21 and were out of energy in the tiebreaker, which they lost 15-8.

Jada Radmaker and Abby Evans both had big games for the Falcons’ offense, finishing with nine kills apiece. Emily Decock’s 19 digs were a team-high, although four other Falcons had at 10 or more. DeCock also led RRC in set assists with 24.

RRC (4-20) finishes their regular season on a four-game losing streak, but will have the chance to improve their record when they begin the section tournament next week.
