Rebels rally v. Edgerton

Volleyball round-up

SLAYTON — The Murray County Central volleyball team ended their season on a high note with a back-and-forth, five-set win over Edgerton.

The Rebels won each of the first two sets before dropping two in a row, including a 19-27 heartbreaker in set four to force a tiebreaker. Yet, they were able to pull out a 15-13 victory in the fifth set to secure the win.

Abby Loosbrock led MCC in kills with 13, while Kate Slettum and Zoey Iverson each chimed in with another eight. Iverson also had a team-high four aces and was second on the team in digs with 11, trailing only Jaelen Barstad’s 14. Slettum had a team-high 27 assists and three aces.

Following the win, the Rebels will take some time off to recover before starting the section tournament next week.

HLOF 3, Red Rock Central 0

LAMBERTON — The Red Rock Central volleyball team fell in straight sets to Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda Monday night. They lost the first set and the scoring margin only grew from there.

Sondra Rindfleisch led RRC in kills on the night with three. No other member of the Falcons had more than one. Emily Hubin had a team-high 10 kills, followed by eight apiece from Maia Scheffler and Ella Erickson. Emily DeCock led the Falcons in assists with six.

The Red Rock Central Falcons (4-19) will conclude their season with a match against Worthington at home tonight at 7:30 p.m.

WWG 3, MLAC 1

WESTBROOK — The Westbrook Walnut Grove Chargers defeated MLAC in four sets 18-25, 25-12, 25-23 and 25-11 on Monday evening.

Natalie Wahl for the Chargers led the team with 27 kills in the contest. Isabella Rentschler led the team in digs with 36 and Macie Christians was second on the team in digs with 14. Addeson Jenniges led the team in assists with 42 and led the team with three aces in serve. Jenniges also contributed 13 digs in the match.

WWG (14-9) will conclude its regular season on Tuesday traveling to Wabasso to face off against the Rabbits.
