JORDAN– The Marshall Tigers tennis team fell in the first round of the 2AA section playoff tournament to the Jordan high school, 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

The No 1 player for the Tigers Reagan Loft, was the only Tiger who won her singles match in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. It was the only match between the singles and doubles matches the Tigers would win.

No. 2 Taylor DePover, No 3 Naomi Schroeder, and No 4 Siri Christensen for the Tigers all would drop their singles match in straight sets. DePover would have the toughest battle between the singles matches losing 7-6 and 7-5.

Jordan would secure the final three points of the match winning all of the doubles matches. The No.1 doubles Taylor Miller and Olivia Penske would drop their match in straight sets. The No.2 team Reese Graven and Eliza Holmgren would also lose in straight sets. The No. 3 team Aubrey Schaefer and Reagan Boerboom would also go down in straight sets. Head coach of the Marshall Tigers tennis team Alex Cleppe spoke about the loss today and the season.

“Hats off to Jordan, they got a good team,” Cleppe said.“I think our girls had a really good year. It is kind of a bittersweet night because this was the last match for the team.”

Cleppe also spoke about his two seniors Miller and Loft with how much they have contributed to the program on and off the court.

“Miller has improved from where she started and she has become a heck of a player for us,” Cleppe added. “A great leader for our program. She’s awesome to have. Our other senior is Reagan Loft. She is more of a testament to our players for sticking around and seeing what you can achieve. Hard worker, and a great player, and she has also been an awesome leader for us. They will both be missed.”
