MARSHALL — The Marshall Baseball Association is proud to announce the latest inductee into the Marshall Baseball Hall of Fame as former Marshall High School standout and former Marshall A’s and Giants player, Pat Bushard will be honored prior to the Marshall A’s game versus Luverne this Friday night starting at 7:30 at Legion Field.

The Marshall Baseball Hall of Fame was established in 2015 and now has 17 members.

Bushard contributed to Marshall Baseball and surrounding communities for than 15 years as a youth, high school, college and amateur baseball player. In 1976, he helped lead Marshall High School to a second-place finish at the Class AA state tournament. Bushard tossed 21 scoreless innings in the tournament before having to be pulled in the seventh inning of the championship game due to pitching rules. He finished his senior season 15-0 with 10 complete games, four shutouts and a 0.90 ERA. Bushard set several Minnesota state high school records, including wins in a season (15) and most innings pitched in a state tournament (21).

Following his high school career, Bushard pitched four seasons at Southwest Minnesota State while racking 147 strikeouts in 183 innings. A first team All-NIC honree in 1980, he currently ranks tied for fifth in school history with 17 complete games and is eighth with 147 strikeouts.

He would play for both the Marshall A’s and Marshall Giants in his town-ball career and also played one season for Cottonwood.

Bushard passed away at the age of 60 on March 27, 2018.
