LEGION BASEBALL: Marshall earns pair of wins in Alexandria tournament
ALEXANDRIA — The Marshall Legion baseball team earned a pair of wins in the Alexandria tournament on Friday, defeating Orono/Maple Plain 4-3 and Holy Family Catholic 9-6.
Against Orono/Maple Plain, Connor Neubeck led Marshall with two hits and an RBI while Parker Schmitt added a hit and two RBIs and Tyler Maeyaert and Jon Gruhot each had a hit. Charlie Jacobson earned the win on the mound, going 6 2/3 innings while allowing three runs on six hits and struck out 13.
Against Holy Family Catholic, Jacobson led Marshall with three hits and two RBIs while Neubeck added two hits and two RBIs and Ashton Rowe had a hit and two RBIs. Maeyaert earned the start, allowing three runs. Schmitt threw an inning in relief, allowing one run on four hits and struck out three. Talan Plante tossed 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on two hits and struck out 10. Rowe threw the final 2/3 of an inning, allowing one hit.
Marshall (3-2) will continue tournament play today against White Bear Lake at 3:30 p.m.
