MANKATO -- The Marshall baseball team fell to Mankato West 13-3 in six innings on Saturday.
Talan Plante led Marshall with two hits while Charlie Jacobson added a hit and two RBIs and Lincoln Graven had a hit and an RBI. Tyler Maeyaert took the loss on the mound, going four innings while allowing 10 runs on six hits and struck out five.
Marshall (5-5) will face Luverne on the road today at 5:30 p.m.

Fairmont Invite
FAIRMONT -- The Marshall boys and girls golf teams competed in the Fairmont Invite on Saturday, with the boys team taking second with a team score of 330 while the girls team tied for third with a team score of 404. On the boys side, St. Peter took first with a team score of 325, followed by Luverne in third (336) and Fairmont in fourth (339). On the girls side, Fairmont took first with a team score of 367, followed by Blue Earth Area in second (391) and Luverne in fifth (426). St. Peter tied with Marshall for third.
Boys
On the boys side, Luke Ehlers tied for first with a 75 while Sam Schwarz tied for eighth with an 81, Jayden Manthei tied for 19th with an 86, Evan Franson tied for 26th with an 88, Zach Kramer took 48th with a 97 and Joey Fossum tied for 51st with a 100.
Girls
On the girls side, Eryn Kraft took seventh with a 96 while Taylor Miller tied for 13th with a 102, Dayton Webskowski and Grace Ehlers tied for 16th with a 103, Jaryn Hilgemann tied for 21st with a 108 and Sophia Schwartz took 48th with a 144.
The Marshall girls team will compete today at Windom Area at 2 p.m. while the boys team will compete today at Worthington at 2 p.m.

Howard Wood Relays
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Multiple area track and field individuals competed in the Howard Wood Relays meet over the weekend.
Marshall
In the 400 meters, Bri Simpson took 27th with a time of 1:03.20. In the 4×800 meter relay, the team of Bellamy Sukalski, Taleigha Bigler, Miracle Tucker and Allyson Sample took eighth with a time of 9:53.79. In the high jump, Ava Holmgren took 26th with a height of 4-09.
Canby/Minneota
On the boys side, in the 4×400 meter relay, the team of Michael Tol, Zach Ourada, Blake Stoks and Trevor Gray took 14th with a time of 3:43.38 while the team of Blake Giese, Ourada, Kolton Duis and Stoks took 14th in the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 8:48.54. In the high jump, Gray took fourth with a height of 6-04.
On the girls side, in the 800 meters, Grace Drietz took fifth with a time of 2:16.94 and also took sixth in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:15.69. In the 300 meter hurdles, Braelyn Merritt took 26th with a time of 50.31 seconds. In the 4×400 meter relay, the team of RyAnn Hansen, Claire Stoks, Merritt and Drietz took fifth with a time of 4:20.78. In the high jump, Aidyn Bruns took 12th with a height of 5-01.
Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd
In the long jump, Brayson Boike took 19th with a distance of 19-10.00 and also took 17th in the triple jump with a distance of 40-04.25.

In the 100 meters, Greg Schafer took 15th with a time of 11.13 seconds. In the 300 meter hurdles, Ethan Staab took 24th with a time of 43.59 seconds. In the 4×100 meter relay, the team of Nathan Fenske, Koltin Mulder, Staab and Schafer took seventh with a time of 45.58 seconds. In the high jump, Fenske took 29th with a height of 5-08.

In the shot put, Tony Nelson took first with a throw of 59-07.25.

ST. PETER -- The Marshall baseball team split a pair of games against St. Peter on Friday, winning Game 1 9-2 and falling in Game 2 8-6.
In Game 1, Charlie Jacobson led Marshall with three hits and an RBI while Tyler Maeyaert added two hits and an RBI and Andrew Wallen, Parker Schmitt and Talan Plante each had a hit and combined for four RBIs. Jacobson earned the win on the mound, going six innings while allowing two runs on three hits and struck out 13.
In Game 2, Maeyaert and Jacobson led Marshall with two hits and an RBI each while Wallen and Connor Neubeck each had two hits. Schmitt took the loss on the mound, going four innings while allowing seven runs on six hits and struck out five.
