WAYNE, Neb. -- The Southwest Minnesota State University women's golf team shot a 42-over-par 330 for the second straight round to finish seventh overall with an 84-over 660 at the 10-team Wildcat Classic hosted by Wayne State College.
Nebraska-Kearney won the team title with a 39-over 615, seven shots ahead of second place Concordia-St. Paul. The 36-hole tournament was played at the par-72 Wayne Country Club.
Sally Gallagher and Danielle Podoll led the Mustangs in the 71-player field tying for 29th overall with a score of 19-over 163. Gallagher shot a final round of 10-over 82 with two birdies and five pars, while Podoll carded an 11-over 83 with one birdie and nine pars on Tuesday.
Jacqueline Gossen finished Tuesday with team-low 9-over 81 which included one birdie and eight pars. She finished the tournament tied for 33rd with a 21-over 165.
Courtni Frank tied for 41st overall at 26-over 170, following a final round 12-over 84, with six pars, while Ashley Trongard closed with a final round score of 14-over 86 with eight pars to place tied for 44th overall at 27-over 171.
Lauryn Driscoll, playing as an individual, finished with a 15-over 87 in the final round with eight pars to finish tied for 48th overall with a 28-over 172. Anneke Weg tied for 55th at 33-over 177, following a 13-over 85 on Tuesday, while Sydney Noel tied for 62nd at 40-over 184 after a 25-over 97 on Tuesday.
SMSU will now turn its attention to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship on April 22-24 at Paradise Pointe - Outlaw Course in Smithville, Mo.
