PREP BASEBALL: Marshall’s Connor Neubeck ready to continue career at Briar Cliff University

MARSHALL -- The cooling temperatures may be currently affecting his spring season on the Marshall baseball team, but it won't stop Connor Neubeck from thinking about his future. The senior signed his National Letter of Intent in February to play baseball at Briar Cliff University and was excited to finally be committed.
"It feels good to finally get it out of the way," Neubeck said. "I've been working for this for however long I've been playing baseball and it finally happened, so it felt good."
Neubeck said he felt Briar Cliff gave him the best opportunity to improve as a player and liked the facility they had on campus.
"I was talking to some Division II and Division III teams and they [Briar Cliff] were the only NAIA school but I think they just gave me the best opportunity to get better," Neubeck said. "They built a new indoor facility and I can work there whenever I wanted, so that's what I liked about them."
The past few years, Neubeck has been a key contributor to Marshall's success on the diamond. Last year, Neubeck recorded 30 hits and 13 RBIs while batting .441 and scored 19 runs. This year, Neubeck currently has a batting average of .600 and six total hits and three RBIs in four games. Neubeck attributed that success to the impact his coaches and teammates have had on him.
Neubeck said coach Chace Pollock did a lot to help him get recruited.
"He's had a lot of impact," Neubeck said. "I wouldn't have gone to Briar Cliff if it wasn't for Pollock helping me get recruited and talking to coaches."
Neubeck added his teammates do a good job of making the game fun.
"They just make baseball so much more fun," Neubeck said. "They make me really love the game."
Neubeck said he plans to major in business administration or marketing and will play in the outfield. Going into next year, Neubeck said he's looking forward to improving each day and even has a specific game already circled on the calendar.
"Just trying to get better and make varsity," Neubeck said. "I know they will play at the Field of Dreams field, so I want to try and make varsity to be on that roster for that game."
