SMSU GOLF: SMSU’s Gallagher named NSIC Women’s Golfer of the Week
BURNSVILLE — The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced on Wednesday that Southwest Minnesota State University’s Sally Gallagher has been named the NSIC’s Women’s Golfer of the Week.
It’s the first time Gallagher, a native of Moville, Iowa, has earned the honor.
Gallagher opened the spring season earlier this week shooting back-to-back rounds of 7-over-par 78 to finish in a tie for fourth place out of 80 players with a 14-over 156 at the SMSU Spring Invite held at par 71 Wigwam Blue Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz. She finished the 36-hole invite making seven birdies and 11 pars in helping SMSU finish sixth in the 12-team tournament.
Dating back to the fall season, Gallagher has now registered four consecutive rounds of sub-80 and has five in 14 rounds during the 2021-22 season. She leads SMSU with an 81.0 average with six Top 20 finishes in seven tournaments.
Gallagher is a 2019 graduate of Woodbury Central High School.
The SMSU women’s golf team continues play today hosting the four team SMSU Challenge at Coldwater Golf Course in Avondale, Ariz.
