SMSU ATHLETICS: NSIC and SMSU continues ‘It’s a Slam Dunk – Don’t Drive Drunk’ campaign this Friday

MARSHALL — Southwest Minnesota State University will be hosting the 10th annual “It’s a Slam Dunk – Don’t Drive Drunk” this Friday night when the Mustang women’s and men’s basketball teams host Minnesota Crookston with the women’s game at 5:30 and the men’s game at 7:30.

The “It’s A Slam Dunk, Don’t Drive Drunk” campaign, which started in 2013, will commemorate Drake Bigler, the five-month-old son of SMSU head men’s basketball coach Brad Bigler, who was killed by a drunk driver in 2012.

Throughout the months of January and February, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) members will be engaging their campus communities through virtual platforms to raise awareness about drunk driving and to encourage others to not drive impaired.

SMSU SAAC members are encouraging fans to pledge not to drive drunk via its Twitter page at @SMSUSAAC.

SMSU and the NSIC encourages fans to support this effort and to always drive responsibly.
