PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall boys basketball takes out Redwood Valley, 67-55

REDWOOD FALLS — The Marshall boys basketball team defeated Redwood Valley 67-55 on Tuesday.

Noah Wilts led Marshall with 13 points while Omar Abdi and Tyler Maeyaert each added 12 and Andrew Elton had 10. Cayden Werner led in rebounds with eight while Wilts led in assists with five.

Marshall (11-5) will face Worthington at home on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

Girls hockey

Minnesota River 4, Marshall 3 (OT)

LESUEUR — The Marshall girls hockey team fell to Minnesota River 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday.

Minnesota River got out to a quick start, getting a goal to take a 1-0 lead after one. Marshall had an answer, though, as Leah Schaefer found the back of the net on the assist by Tessa Gannott before Regan Loft scored on the assist from Kalyn DeVlieger to take a 2-1 advantage with three minutes left in the second period. The two teams traded scoring in the third, with Minnesota River getting a goal before Marshall scored on a goal from Gannott on the assist by Shelby Ormberg and Loft to take a 3-2 lead. Minnesota River would then score late in the third to tie things up at 3-3 to force overtime before getting a goal in overtime to earn the 4-3 victory.

Marshall outshot Minnesota River 41-27 on the game. Belle Deutz recorded 23 saves in net for Marshall.

Marshall (12-10-1) will face Luverne on the road on Friday at 7 p.m.

WILLMAR — The Minneota wrestling team split a pair of duals on Tuesday, defeating Little Falls 36-32 and falling to Willmar 40-26.

Against Little Falls, Adam Devlaeminck, Troy VanKeulen, Zack Fier and Jonah Gruenes won by fall, Peyton Gillund and Conner Sik won by decision and Hudson Scholten won by forfeit for Minneota.

Against Willmar, VanKeulen and Scholten won by fall, Kade Lozinski won by decision, Eli Gruenes won by tech fall and Branden Johnson won by forfeit for Minneota.

Minneota will compete next on Friday at Morris at 5 p.m.

WABASSO — The Canby boys basketball team defeated Wabasso 64-62 on Monday.

Evan Weber led Canby with 16 points while Ty Stoks added 14 and Trevor Gray had 11. Presley Viessman led in rebounds with six while Gray led in assists with six.

Isaac Kronback led Wabasso with 27 points while Sam Fenger added 21 and Noah Anderson and Jayden Goblish each recorded seven. Fenger led in rebounds with nine while Kronback led in assists with four.
