SMSU WRESTLING: Mustangs return to the mat Sunday in Moorhead for Dragon Open
MARSHALL — The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team returns to the mat on Sunday in Moorhead for the Dragon Open, hosted by MSU Moorhead, starting at 10 a.m.
SMSU head coach Chayse Jackson expects 18 wrestlers to represent SMSU during the open.

Three Mustangs find themselves ranked inside the top 16 of the InterMat Wrestling DII National Rankings, updated Dec. 1 … After a 3-0 day to finish first at the Auggie Open on Nov. 20, Jackson Stauffacher jumped to No. 16 at 125 pounds … Caden Steffen is the highest ranked Mustang of the three, moving up a spot to fourth at 184 pounds … Jacob Dykes rounds out the individuals, slotting in at No. 16 at 285 pounds … SMSU has also entered the team rankings, moving into a tie at 21st in Division II. They are one of six teams from the NSIC ranked in the top 25.

The Mustangs will open conference duals on Friday, Dec. 10, in Aberdeen, S.D., against Northern State at 7 p.m., and will open its home schedule on Friday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. versus Upper Iowa.
