PREP FOOTBALL: Southwest District announces All-Subdistrict teams
MARSHALL — The Southwest District recently announced its All-Subdistrict teams for football and multiple area players made the list.
In the West sub-district, Jackson Esping, Jonah Gruenes, AJ Josephson, Conner Sik, Tucker Thooft and Peyton Gillund made it for Minneota while Kiegan Marczak, Nathan Fenske, Jordan Fischer, Clayton Kosel and Owen Louwagie made it for Lakeview. Brayden Hahn, Colin Jorgens, Caleb Torke and Holt Larson made it for Dawson-Boyd and Darrick Baartman, Jonah Christensen, Logan Lamote and Cody Wichmann made it for Russell-Tyler-Ruthton. Ty Stoks, Isaac Guza and Evan Weber made it for Canby while Patrick Hoernemann and Nolan Hildahl made it for Yellow Medicine East.
On the Honorable Mention team, Landon DeSmet and Cale Sorensen made it for Minneota while Caine Herigon and Justin Timm made it for Lakeview, Braxton Hahn and Levi Olson made it for DB, Aiden Wichmann and Drew Werkman made it for RTR, Parker Verhelst and Dylan Houseman made it for Canby and Isaac Jimenez and Andrew Flaten made it for YME.
In the East sub-district, Dawson Blankenship, Kevin Garcia, Nate Kleven, Christian Kuball, Chant Mitchell and Carter Benda made it for Murray County Central while Caden Johnson, Tony Nelson, Christian Wendland and Caden Anderson made it for Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and Jayden Goblish and Wyatt Soupir made it for Wabasso. On the Honorable mention team, Abe Paulzine and Christian Tentinger made it for MCC while Matt Munson and Noah Swenhaugen made it for TMB and Sam Welch and Adryen Tietz made it for Wabasso.
The All-Academic teams were also announced. In the West sub-district, Easton Antony, Ryder Lutgen, Presley Viessman, Lane Fink, Lincoln Fink, Guza and Gavin Maynard made it for Canby while Jonah Gruenes, Thooft, Evan Popowski and Michael Popowski made it for Minneota. Brayden and Braxton Hahn, Collin Swedzinski, Jackson Buer, Aiden Swenson and Keegon Wicht made it for DB, Lamote, Chase Christensen and Landon Schmirm made it for RTR while Hoernemann, Landon Anderson, Cody Dahlager, James Peterson, Tarrick Rupp and Bryce Sneller made it for YME.
In the East sub-district, Blankenship, Kleven, Logan Steinle, Benda, Jaden Deacon, Dylan Deacon and Tentinger made it for MCC while Munson made it for TMB and Tietz and Ashton Weidemann made it for Wabasso.
MCC’s Patrick Freeman was named the Coach of the Year in the East sub-district while TMB’s Wendland was named the Offensive Receiver of the Year, Nelson was named the Offensive Lineman of the Year and Munson was named the Defensive Back of the Year. MCC’s Blankenship was named the Linebacker of the Year and Benda was named the Special Teams Player of the Year.
In the West sub-district, Minneota’s Chad Johnston was named the Coach of the Year while Esping was named the MVP, Offensive and Defensive Lineman of the Year. DB’s Larson was named the Offensive Running Back of the Year while Minneota’s Jonah Gruenes was named Linebacker of the Year and Gillund was named the Special Teams Player of the Year.
