PREP BOYS HOCKEY: Marshall falls to Eau Claire North 13-1
BLAINE — The Marshall boys hockey team fell to Eau Claire North 13-1 in the Herb Brooks Classic tournament on Monday.
Eau Claire North jumped out to an early start, getting a pair of goals to take a 2-0 lead. Marshall would get a goal by Braxton Meyer on the assist by Jared Reinsma and Logan Deutz to draw the deficit to one at 2-1 just past the midway mark of the opening period, but Eau Claire North answered with back-to-back goals to take a 4-1 lead after one.
Eau Claire North wasn’t done there, as it scored five goals in the second period and four in the third frame to bring it to the 13-1 final.
Eau Claire North outshot Marshall 36-13 on the game. Ezra Maurice and Gavin Welsh combined in net for Marshall, with Maurice recording 18 saves and Welsh recording five.
Marshall (4-5) will face Northern Edge today at 1:45 p.m. in Blaine.
