PREP VOLLEYBALL: MNVBCA announces All-State teams

ST. PAUL — A number of area athletes were among the players named to the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association all-state volleyball teams on Tuesday.

Three Marshall Tigers were named to the 18-player Class AAA Team. Senior setter Maysa Gillingham was included on the list, while junior libero Caitlyn Christenson and junior Leah Jones were also all-state honorees. Marshall was the only Class AAA school with three players named to the team.

Other players on theClass AAA team include Grace Banse of Mankato West, Ava Carlson from Cloquet, Maddie Converse and Cate Wanous from Kasson-Mantorville, Corbyn Menz of Delano, Stewartville’s Allison Elliott and Kylie Smidt, Gabrielle Gartner and Clara Hoegh from Byron, Tessa McGrane of Alexandria, New Prague’s Abby and Anna Molstad, Adri Rhoda of Hutchinson, Sydney Schnichels from Willmar and Monticello’s Megan Wetter.

Seven area players were named to the Class A all-state team. Minneota led the way with four players honored. Seniors Natalee Rolbiecki, McKenzie Tolk and McKenna Yost made the team, along with junior Ireland Stassen.

The Canby Lancers were represented by seniors Maya Wente and Kyla Rangaard, while Karli Arkell of Red Rock Central also made the team.

Section 3A was also represented on the list by MACCRAY junior Sydney Thein.

Tying Minneota with four Class A honorees was Mayer Lutheran, as Madeline Guetzkow and Emma Lade along with Gabby and Lilly Wachholz made the list.

Also making the team were Elizabeth Cohen from Bethlehem Academy, Cassie Dahl of Badger/Greenbush-Middle River, Camryn Kaehler of Breckenridge, Emily Kern from Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, Hannah Reichensperger of Northeast Range and Tezra Rudzitis of Legacy Christian.

The all-state teams are chosen by panels made up of class-specific representatives from the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association. The recipients were announced at the MNVBCA State Tournament Banquet at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium on Tuesday.
