PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Bellamy Sukalski signs National Letter of Intent to compete in cross country and track and field at Winona State University

MARSHALL -- With a quick signature, the next step to Bellamy Sukalski's athletic career was complete. The Marshall senior signed her National Letter of Intent on Friday to compete in cross country and track and field at Winona State University.
Sukalski said it felt good to finally have this day come and officially be committed.
"It is super exciting," Sukalski said. "It's just nice to have it completed and it's a great accomplishment."
Sukalski added what drew her to WSU was the overall atmosphere of the program.
"I went on an official visit there and the team was just absolutely amazing and the coach was great," Sukalski said. "The way they talked about their program really sold it for me."
The past few years, Sukalski has been a key contributor for Marshall on the course and track. This fall, she helped guide the cross country team to its ninth straight state appearance (excluding the COVID-shortened season last year that didn't feature a state meet), with MHS placing fourth as a team and Sukalski placing 56th overall with a time of 20:32.46.
Sukalski attributed that success to the impact her coaches and teammates have had on her. She said her coaches and teammates have always been there for her and have pushed her every day.
"My coaches have pushed me beyond my limits and I cannot thank them more," Sukalski said. "My teammates have been amazing too throughout the entire process, I couldn't have been here without either of them."
Sukalski said she plans to major in biology and pre-med. Before she heads to Winona next fall, Sukalski still has one final spring with the MHS track and field team. She said she's looking forward to spending time with her teammates and seeing how many athletes they can get to state.
"I'm really excited to see what we can do and see how many people we can get to state," Sukalski said. "I also just want to go out there and have fun one more time with my people."
