AREA HOCKEY: Squirt B Orange goes 2-0, Bantam A faces tough competition

MARSHALL — The Marshall Amateur Hockey Association Squirt B Orange and Bantam A hockey teams competed over the weekend, with the Squirt B team going 2-0 and Bantam A dropping a pair of games.
Squirt B Orange
The MAHA Squirt B Orange team went 2-0 over the weekend, defeating Lakes Area and Luverne.
On Saturday Marshall started strong and never looked back, defeating Lakes Area 12-0. Griffin Leibfried led the way with seven goals while Carter Price added three. Noland Munson had a goal and a trio of assists, Theo Schroeder came away with a goal and an assist while Alex Meisner and Sawyer Bresnahan had a goal and an assist respectively. Bentley Harrington finished the game with a six-save shutout.
Marshall faced off with Luverne on Sunday, coming away with an 8-3 win. Munson and Leibfriend each had a pair of goals while Price and Meisner tallied a goal and an assist each. Braylon Oey and Nehum Klemm scored a goal apiece while Schroeder finished with an assist. Alex Dunn scored the win with seven saves.
Marshall will have a busy weekend, hosting Windom Blue and Yellow on Saturday before hosting Redwood Area on Sunday before traveling to Fairmont later that day.

Bantam A
The MAHA Bantam A team was home on Saturday and Sunday, falling to Wayzata and Armstrong Cooper in District 3 play.
On Saturday, Marshall matched the Trojans in two periods, but the second period was the difference with Marshall falling to Wayzata 7-2. Jacob Johnson got Marshall on the board with one second left in the second period while Ricky Crum added another goal in the third period. Nathan Lenz had 32 saves in the loss.
On Sunday, Marshall was unable to get going offensively, falling to Armstrong Cooper 12-0. Lenz notched 37 saves.
Marshall will be in action again on Saturday when they play host to Minneapolis.
