SMSU SWIMMING AND DIVING: SMSU to host first dual of the season on Friday night
MARSHALL — The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s swimming & diving team will compete at home for the first time during the 2021-22 season on Friday hosting the University of Jamestown in a dual meet beginning at 6 p.m. inside the Don Palm Natatorium on the campus of SMSU.
Friday’s meet is scheduled to have 11 races along with 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
SMSU opened the season last Friday splitting a triangular hosted by Minnesota State. SMSU lost 236-99 to MSU, but earned a 214-82 victory over Concordia-St. Paul.
Natalie Bohnert won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.79. she also placed third in the 50-yard backstroke at 28.25 and was third in the 50-yard butterfly at 27.83.
Quincie Klein also had a strong meet finishing second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.03 and was fourth in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:32.75.
SMSU head coach Marty Wahle has 24 individuals on the 2021-22 roster.
Jamestown, competing in its first collegiate season, is 0-1 on the season following a 112-102 loss to Northern State last Friday.
