PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall girls take first, boys fourth at Milaca meet

MILACA — The Marshall boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Milaca Mega Meet on Saturday, with the girls taking first with a team score of 77 while the boys took fourth with a team score of 164.

On the girls side, Bellamy Sukalski took fifth with a time of 19:35.9 while Allyson Sample took seventh with a time of 19:41.8, Miracle Tucker took 19th with a time of 20:44.9, Taleigha Bigler took 24th with a time of 20:53.9, Katelyn Leibfried took 33rd with a time of 21:12.4 and Gracelyn Foster took 78th with a time of 22:46.8.

On the boys side, Zach Leibfried took 26th with a time of 17:34.4 while Sam Deutz took 29th with a time of 17:42.8, Ethan Bly took 37th with a time of 17:49.9, Hudson Dieken took 38th with a time of 17:50.7, Keagen Anderson took 39th with a time of 17:52.9, Josh Leibfried took 40th with a time of 17:54.1 and Daniel Olin took 75th with a time of 18:44.7.

Marshall will compete next on Thursday at Redwood Valley at 4:30 p.m.

Canby/Minneota

MILACA — The Canby/Minneota boys and girls cross country teams also competed at the Milaca Mega Meet, with the girls taking third with a team score of 141 and the boys taking seventh with a team score of 201.

On the girls side, Grace Drietz took third with a time of 19:19.4 while Claire Stoks took ninth with a time of 20:04.4, Braelyn Merritt took 11th with a time of 20:06.7, Hannah Vlaminck took 55th with a time of 23:09.1, Hannah Fadness took 89th with a time of 24:01.4 and Lillie Wollum took 90th with a time of 24:02.4.

On the boys side, Kolton Duis took 27th with a time of 17:48.8 while Zach Ourada took 28th with a time of 17:50.2, Blake Stoks took 33rd with a time of 17:59.7, Blake Giese took 60th with a time of 19:04.8, Tristen Bierschenk took 75th with a time of 19:28.2, Colton Ruether took 100th with a time of 19:58.7 and Caleb Danielson took 130th with a time of 20:41.2.

Canby/Minneota will compete next on Thursday at YME at 4:30 p.m.

Laker Invite

ST. PAUL — The Marshall swimming and diving team competed in the Laker Invite on the campus of the College of St. Catherine’s on Saturday, taking ninth with a team score of 101.

In the 200 yard medley relay, the team of Alli Kopitski, Maddie Larson, Mansi Bell and Alex Larson took 11th with a time of 2:07.47 while the team of Paige Milstead, Emma Beavers, Reagan Brandt and Brooklyn Gossen took 17th with a time of 2:12.17. In the 200 yard freestyle, Kopitski took 17th with a time of 2:16.79 while Milstead took 24th with a time of 2:24.01, Elizabeth Coudron took 28th with a time of 2:28.37 and Taylor Brandt took 37th with a time of 2:46. In the 200 yard individual medley, Maddie Larson took seventh with a time of 2:27.32 while Alex Larson took 13th with a time of 2:35, Beavers took 14th with a time of 2:35.42 and Eryn Kraft took 37th with a time of 3:02.17.

In the 50 yard freestyle, Grace Rokeh took 15th with a time of 27.79 seconds while Gossen took 26th with a time of 30.19 seconds and Aaliyah Podratz took 33rd with a time of 31.90 seconds. In the 1 meter dive, Clara Bader took sixth with a score of 150.30 while Reagan Brandt took 15th with a score of 128.80, Gossen took 18th with a score of 125.35 and Autumn Deutz took 29th with a time of 90.55 seconds. In the 100 yard butterfly, Bell took 23rd with a time of 1:13.99 while Reagan Brandt took 28th with a time of 1:15.58, Mary Lanoue took 33rd with a time of 1:19.91 and Taylor Brandt took 35th with a time of 1:28.66.

In the 100 yard freestyle, Bader took 14th with a time of 1:01.17 while Rokeh took 19th with a time of 1:02.62 and Deutz took 22nd with a time of 1:03.03. In the 500 yard freestyle, Milstead took 24th with a time of 6:25.34 while Lanoue took 33rd with a time of 7:12.09. In the 200 yard freestyle relay, the team of Alex Larson, Bader, Rokeh and Hailey Brandt took eighth with a time of 1:51.70 while the team of Bell, Maddie Larson, Kopitski and Deutz took 14th with a time of 1:55.61, the team of Gossen, Reagan Brandt, Beavers and Milstead took 24th with a time of 2:03.98 and the team of Eryn Kraft, Taylor Brandt, Coudron and Podratz took 33rd with a time of 2:10.49. In the 100 yard backstroke, Alex Larson took 15th with a time of 1:10.86 while Bell took 18th with a time of 1:11.79, Kopitski took 20th with a time of 1:12.55 and Coudron took 29th with a time of 1:18.96. In the 100 yard breaststroke, Maddie Larson took eighth with a time of 1:16.01 while Beavers took ninth with a time of 1:16.47, Kraft took 35th with a time of 1:34.78 and Podratz took 36th with a time of 1:36.37 to round out their times.

Marshall will compete next on Tuesday at home against Willmar at 6 p.m.

Volleyball

Eagle Invite

APPLE VALLEY — The No. 1-ranked Marshall volleyball team took fifth place at the Eagle Invite over the weekend, defeating Prior Lake 2-0 (26-24, 25-22), Chaska (No. 6 in Class AAAA) 2-0 (25-15, 25-17) and Lakeville North (No. 9 in Class AAAA) 2-0 (25-17, 25-22) while falling to Eagan (No. 4 in Class AAAA) 2-1 (17-25, 25-22, 10-15).

Leah Jones led Marshall with 41 total kills while Tessa Gannott added 24, Taylor Ariasola had 20 and Brooke Andries had 18. Caitlyn Christenson led in digs with 65 total while Jones added 32, Ashleigh Steinbach had 25 and Maysa Gillingham had 20 and Gillingham led in set assists with 94 total.

Marshall (14-1) will face Mankato East on the road on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Class A showcase

Minneota

BURNSVILLE — The No. 2-ranked Minneota volleyball team took second at the Class A showcase tournament over the weekend defeating Legacy Christian 2-0 (28-26, 25-15), Fillmore Central 2-0 (25-15, 25-18), Badger-Greenbush-Middle River 2-0 (25-9, 25-13) and Canby 2-1 (25-14, 23-25, 15-11) before falling to No. 1-ranked Mayer Lutheran 2-1 (25-22, 14-25, 12-15).

Natalee Rolbiecki led Minneota with 64 total kills while Ireland Stassen added 43 and Abby Frie had 26. McKenzie Tolk led in digs with 68 total while Rolbiecki added 52 and Lyzah Sussner and Stassen each added 35. McKenna Yost led in set assists with 69 total while Stassen added 66.

Minneota (14-3) will face Lakeview on the road on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Canby

BURNSVILLE — The No. 3-ranked Canby volleyball team took third at the Class A showcase over the weekend, defeating Walker-Hackensack-Akeley 2-0 (25-19, 25-7), Fosston 2-0 (25-18, 25-13), Bethlehem Academy 2-0 (25-20, 26-24) and RTR 2-0 (25-15, 25-8) while falling to No. 2-ranked Minneota 2-1 (14-25, 25-23, 11-15).

Maya Wente led Canby with 56 total kills while Gabby Harding added 30 and Mackenzie Janiszeski had 24. Kyla Rangaard led in digs with 57 total while Janiszeski added 52, Gabby Harding had 41 and Rachel Harding had 30. Paige Nelson led in set assists with 82 total while Rachel Harding had 50.

Canby (15-3) will face Yellow Medicine East at home on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

RTR

BURNSVILLE — The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton volleyball team took fourth place at the Class A showcase tournament over the weekend, defeating No. 8-ranked Cleveland 2-0 (25-15, 25-16), No. 4-ranked Mabel Canton 2-0 (25-22, 27-25) and Kittson County 2-0 (25-14, 25-18) before falling to No. 1-ranked Mayer Lutheran 2-0 (11-25, 10-25) and No. 3-ranked Canby 2-0 (15-25, 8-25).

Ella Hesse led RTR with 37 total kills while Abby Carr added 36. Lexi Schreurs led in digs with 32 total while Carr and Gabi Borresen each added 29, Tatum Hess had 26 and Hesse had 24 and Gabi Borresen led in set assists with 79 total.

RTR (11-6) will face Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on the road on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Sibley East

tournament

ARLINGTON — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton took first place at the Sibley East tournament over the weekend, defeating Lester Prairie 2-0 (25-18, 25-14), Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 2-0 (25-12, 25-13), Nicollet 2-0 (25-16, 25-18), Chisago Lake 2-0 (28-26, 25-10) and Sibley East 2-0 (25-13, 25-6).

Sheridan Ludeman led TMB with 39 total kills while Camille Dolan added 33 and Kiarra Danielson had 26. Margaret Dolan led in digs with 51 total while Danielson added 37 and Maddi Langerock had 22 while Langerock led in set assists with 111 total.

TMB (13-5) will face RTR at home on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Friday football

Springfield 44,

TMB 38

SPRINGFIELD — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton football team fell to Springfield 44-38 on Friday.

Noah Swenhaugen completed 10 of his 19 pass attempts for 150 yards and two touchdowns while Ayden Horner rushed for 160 yards on 23 carries and a score as well as an 81-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and Caden Anderson added 33 yards on the ground on eight carries and a touchdown. Christian Wendland led in receiving with eight catches for 148 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, Caden Johnson led TMB with 12.5 total tackles.

TMB (2-2) will face Wabasso on the road on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Minneota 57,

Lakeview 0

COTTONWOOD — The Minneota football team defeated Lakeview 57-0 on Friday.

AJ Josephson led Minneota with 118 rushing yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns as well as a 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown while Jonah Gruenes added 88 yards on the ground on six carries and a score. Isaac Pohlen completed nine of his 13 pass attempts for 104 yards and added 19 yards on the ground and two scores while Anthony Rybinski led in receiving with four catches for 47 yards.

Defensively, Rybinski and Zack Fier led Minneota with four total tackles each.

For Lakeview, Owen Louwagie completed six of his 14 pass attempts for 70 yards while Clayton Kosel added 46 rushing yards on 15 carries and Greg Schafer had 32 yards on the ground on eight carries. Nathan Fenske led in receiving with two catches for 26 yards.

Defensively, Koltin Mulder led Lakeview with six total tackles.

Minneota (4-0) will face RTR at home next Friday at 7 p.m. while Lakeview (3-1) will face Dawson-Boyd on the road next Friday at 7 p.m.

DB 50, LQPV 8

MADISON — The Dawson-Boyd football team defeated Lac qui Parle Valley 50-8 on Friday.

Brayden Hahn led DB by completing 11 of his 16 pass attempts for 236 yards and three touchdowns while Holt Larson added 138 rushing yards on 17 carries and three touchdowns and Parker Bothun had a 73-yard run for a score. Levi Olson led in receiving with a 63-yard catch while Aiden Swenson added 52 yards on three catches and a touchdown and Braxton Hahn had a 40-yard catch for a score.

Defensively, Codie Johnson led DB with four total tackles.

DB (4-0) will face Lakeview at home next Friday at 7 p.m.

Canby 28, YME 12

CANBY — The Canby football team defeated Yellow Medicine East 28-12 on Friday.

Ty Stoks led Canby with 153 rushing yards on 18 carries while Dylan Houseman added 69 yards on the ground on four carries and a score. Easton Antony completed eight of his 12 pass attempts for 102 yards and three touchdowns while Houseman led in receiving with two catches for 65 yards and a touchdown and Stoks added a 16-yard score.

Defensively, Isaac Guza led Canby with 10 total tackles.

For YME, Andrew Flaten completed seven of his 20 pass attempts for 90 yards and a touchdown while Nolan Hildahl added 61 yards on the ground on 10 carries and Cody Dahlager led in receiving with five receptions for 79 yards and added 30 rushing yards on seven carries.

No defensive stats for YME were available at press time.

Canby (2-2) will face MACCRAY at home next Friday at 7 p.m. while YME (0-4) will face LQPV at home next Friday at 7 p.m.
