MARSHALL — The Marshall boys soccer team moved at lightning-quick pace on Thursday, scoring four first-half goals against Southwest Minnesota Christian. The only thing to slow them down was a bolt from the actual source.
MHS held a 4-0 lead with 14 minutes left in the opening frame when lightning was spotted in the area. The game would be put into a 30-minute delay before ultimately getting suspended. The conclusion of the game had not been determined at press time.
Marshall jumped out to a quick start, as Elijah Bader found the back of the net just five minutes into the game. Bader wasn’t done there, as he got another shot past the goaltender a couple of minutes later to make it 2-0. Playing with a strong wind against its backs, MHS would continue to push the ball into SWC territory and were rewarded near the midway mark of the half when Isaac Correa lined a shot into the back of the net to make it 3-0. Correa would then join his teammate Bader with a two-goal first half, receiving a pass in front of the net before putting it past the goaltender on a header to push their advantage to 4-0.
