JUNIOR LEGION BASEBALL: Cottonwood Junior Legion punches ticket to state

MONTEVIDEO — The Cottonwood Junior Legion baseball team split a pair of games over the weekend, but was able to punch its ticket to the state tournament. Cottonwood fell to Minneota 2-1 before bouncing back to beat Minneota 6-5 on Saturday.

In game 1, it was a pitching duel between Ryan Dalager from Minneota and Caine Herigon from Cottonwood. Justin Timm led Cottonwood with two hits.

In game 2, Cottonwood came back from a 5-2 deficit and scored two runs in the seventh to win. Cottonwood was led by Jordan Fischer with three hits and 3 RBI while Taiven Isaackson had three hits and Caine Herigon had two hits. Hunter Magnuson collected the win and Jordan Fischer got the save. Cottonwood advances to state tournament and will play on Friday in Montevideo.
