VFW BASEBALL: Marshall 15U Orange goes 1-2 to finish MSF state tournament, end season

AUSTIN — The Marshall 15U Orange baseball team went 1-2 over the weekend to wrap up the Minnesota Sports Federation state tournament, defeating St. Michael-Albertville 9-2 and falling to New Prague 11-10 on Saturday before falling to Albert Lea 9-4 on Sunday.

Against St. Michael-Albertville, Preston Grosklogs led Marshall with three hits and an RBI while Karson Rowe added two hits and an RBI and Andrew Cowden and Ashton Blomberg each had a hit and combined for three RBI.

Blomberg earned the victory on the mound, going 4 2/3 innings while allowing two runs on two hits and struck out five.

Against New Prague, Luke Novotny led Marshall with three hits and an RBI while Rowe added two hits and four RBI and Jude Knudson and Cowden each had a hit and combined for three RBI.

Drew Parsons took the loss on the mound, going four innings while allowing 11 runs on seven hits and struck out one.

Against Albert Lea, Knudson led Marshall with two hits and two RBI while Blomberg added two hits and an RBI and Cowden had a hit and an RBI.

Rowe took the loss on the mound, going four innings while allowing five runs on three hits and struck out five.

Marshall finishes its season with a record of 7-15-1.
