AUSTIN — The Marshall 15U Orange baseball team fell to Elk River 3-1 in the opening round of the Minnesota Sports Federation state tournament on Friday.

Ashton Blomberg led Marshall with two hits while Luke Novotny, Karson Rowe and Colin Klenken each had a hit.

Rowe took the loss on the mound, going five innings while allowing three runs on two hits and struck out eight.

Marshall will face St. Michael-Albertville today at 10 a.m. and New Prague at 2 p.m.

Milroy Irish 6, Worthington 1

WORTHINGTON — The Milroy Irish amateur baseball team defeated Worthington 6-1 in the Region 13C tournament on Friday.

Tyler Alcorn led the Irish with two hits while Brady Lanoue added a hit.

Jack Bly earned the victory on the mound, going six innings while allowing one run and struck out eight.

The Irish (25-6) win the Best of 3 series 2-0 and will find out its next opponent on Monday before playing at home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
