MARSHALL -- After breaking a five-game losing streak with a pair of victories over the weekend, the Marshall amateur baseball team looked to keep its winning momentum going against the Hadley Buttermakers, who entered with a solid record of 9-5. Thanks to a couple of key offensive innings, the A's earned their third win within a week with a 10-3 victory against Hadley on Wednesday at Legion Field.

Hadley jumped out to an early lead, as Jayden Deacon reached on an error before Alex Petersen connected on a single to plate a run in the top of the first. But it was all Marshall after that, with the A's scoring eight runs over the next few innings.

In the bottom of the second, Logan Terfehr got things started with a one-out single before Alex Thompson drew a walk and Peyton Grant smacked an RBI single. After Matt Hmielewski reached on an infield single to load the bases, Doug Mead and Mason Penske drew a walk and reached on a fielder's choice, respectively, to plate two more runs and give Marshall a 3-1 lead.

The bottom of the third saw Marshall get a leadoff double by Joe Rock before Logan Tomasek reached on an error and Terfehr got aboard on an infield single to bring in a run. The A's then added four more runs in the frame on base hits by Thompson, Grant and Hmielewski and fielder's choices from Mead and Penske to push Marshall's advantage to 8-1 after three.

The two teams then traded scoreless innings for the next two and a half frames before Marshall added to its lead in the bottom of the sixth when Zach Olsen connected on a single and Tomasek and Rusty Swanson both reached on an error to make it 9-1.

Hadley wouldn't go down without a fight, however, and got a pair of baserunners aboard when Avery Weber reached on an error and Abe Paulzine connected on a single before Carter Benda reached on an infield single to make it 9-2, but that was the closest the Buttermakers got as Marshall answered with an RBI single by Connor Neubeck before Hadley got another run to bring it to the 10-3 final.
