BIRD ISLAND — The Marshall Mudcats fell to 3-2 over the weekend after earning a 5-0 win over Annandale before falling to St. Louis Park and Litchfield at the BOLD Legion tournament.

Charlie Jacobson got the nod to start the first game of the tournament on Saturday and delivered a two-hit gem featuring nine strikeouts in seven innings pitched.

The Mudcats were led at the plate by Connor Neubeck, who drove in a pair of runs on two hits. A.J. Toulouse, Chase Douglas, Jacob Hughes, Keaton Maertens, Seth Radtke and Brock Schultz all added hits for Marshall for a combined eight hits in the win. Schultz and Radtke combined for the team’s two extra-base hits.

The Marshall bats went quiet in game two of the tournament as the Mudcats were limited to just two hits in the shutout loss.

Hughes and Neubeck provided the offense for Marshall with a double and a single respectively

Mitchell Bouwman took the loss on the mound after 4.2 innings pitched with three earned runs on seven hits and a pair of walks. Bouwman added seven strikeouts as well. Maeyert (0.1 IP) and Zachary Allen pitched (1.0 IP) closed out the game for Marshall. Maeyert surrendered two earned runs on two hits and a pair of walks, while Allen struck out two batters with zero hits or runs given up.

Litchfield 7,

The Mudcats closed out the BOLD tournament with a tough 7-2 loss at the hands of Litchfield after getting out-hit 10-6.

Douglas led Marshall at the plate with a pair of RBIs on a line drive single in the top of the fifth. Neubeck, Jacobson, Maeyert and Radtke all added hits for the Mudcats.

Marshall saw three pitchers take the hill in the loss with Maeyert getting the start. Maeyert remained on the mound for three innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits and three walks with one strikeout.

Jacob Eben took over for two innings in relief, surrendering a pair of runs on three hits and two walks. Allen went on to pitch the final inning for the Mudcats, giving up two earned runs on three hits.

Marshall (3-2) will travel to Springfield for its next game on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
