SMSU TRACK AND FIELD: Mustangs ready for South Dakota Tune-Up
MARSHALL — The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s and men’s track & field team will have its final meet before the conference championships when they compete at the University of South Dakota Tune-Up today.
Track events will begin the day at 2 p.m. with track events starting at 2:30 p.m.
SMSU is coming of a strong performance at the NSIC & Friends Challenge last Saturday in Mankato.
Rebecca Manteuffel won the discus with a mark of 49.94m which ranks 10th in Division II this spring. She also placed fourth in the hammer throw with a school record toss of 51.36m and placed third in the shot put at 14.29m.
McKallen Smith had a big day in the high jump placing second with a school record mark 2.08m. The mark ranks as the 14th highest in Division II this season.
Renald Pierre ran 14.58 in the 110-meter hurdles to pick up a solid third place finish.
Following today’s meet, the Mustangs will compete at the NSIC Championships on May 13-15 in Duluth.
