PREP TRACK AND FIELD: Marshall boys take third, girls fourth at home invite

MARSHALL – The Marshall boys and girls track and field teams hosted a Big South West meet on Tuesday.

St. Peter won the boys meet with a team score of 110 points, followed by Waseca with 104 points.

The Tigers placed third with 72 points, while Worthington (53) and New Ulm (35) rounded out the field.

Waseca won the girls meet with 99 points. St. Peter placed second with 83 points, followed by Worthington with 77 points.

Marshall placed fourth with 65 points, followed by New Ulm with 43 points.

Eli Salisbury won the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:04.92.

DeMario Gaines placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.92 seconds, while finishing third in the 300 hurdles at 46.23 seconds. He also won the high jump after clearing 5 feet, 6 inches.

Bryan Esparza, Isaac Correa, Martin Krenz and Keaton Runia won the 800-meter relay combining for a time of 1:46.36. Tate Condezo, Chidi Nwakama, Bryant Paulsen and Gaines placed third in the 1,600 relay at 3:45.18. Ashton Schnaser, Landon Wherry, Owen Holmberg and Daniel Olin took third in the 3,200 relay at 9:07.18.

Eduardo Garcia finished third in shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 2 inches.

Elijah Bader took third in pole vault (9-6), while Kongmeng Vue finished third in long jump (19-1).

Brianna Simpson won the girls 400 with a time of 1:07.02. She placed third in the girls 100 with a time of 13.53 seconds and was fourth in the 200 (28.52 seconds).

Anna DeGroot won the 1,600 timed at 5:51.30.

Bellamy Sukalski, Taleigha Bigler, Allyson Sample and Miracle Tucker won the 1,600 relay at 4:30.81, while the same four runners won the 3,200 relay at 10:06.95.

Leah Matzner won the high jump after clearing 4-11.

Autumn Deutz placed third in pole vault at 8-0, while Peyton Boeck was third in triple jump at 30-8.5.
