PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Wabasso baseball closes regular season with 9-7 win over New Ulm Cathedral

NEW ULM — The Wabasso baseball team defeated New Ulm Cathedral 9-7 on Tuesday.

Carter Benz led Wabasso with four hits and two RBI while Hunter Taylor added three hits and Colby Wall had two hits.

Adryen Tietz earned the victory in relief, going three innings while allowing one run on three hits and struck out one. Ty Altermatt earned the start, going three innings while allowing five runs on four hits and struck out four.

Wabasso finishes its regular season with a 13-5 record and will start section tournament play later this week.

Minneota 9, RTR 6

TYLER — The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton baseball team fell to Minneota 9-6 on Tuesday.

Hayden Gravley led RTR with two hits and two RBI while Cody Wichmann had two hits and Jack Christianson had a hit and an RBI.

Gravley took the loss on the mound, going 3 2/3 innings while allowing six runs on seven hits and struck out five.

AJ Myhre led Minneota with three hits, including a home run, and five RBI while Ben Skorczewski added three hits and Braeden Panka had a hit and an RBI. Jacob Hennen earned the victory on the mound, going five innings while allowing six runs on seven hits and struck out five.

RTR finishes its regular season with an 11-5 record and will start section tournament play later this week while Minneota finishes its regular season with a 10-6 record and will start section tournament play later this week.

Lakeview 7, DB 3

LQPV 6, Lakeview 1

COTTONWOOD — The Lakeview baseball team split a pair of games on Tuesday, defeating Dawson-Boyd 7-3 before falling to Lac qui Parle Valley 6-1.

Against DB, Caine Herigon led Lakeview with two hits and an RBI while Cayden Caron and Ayden St. Pierre each had a hit and two RBI and Aaron Lienemann had a hit and an RBI.

Herigon earned the victory on the mound, going six innings while allowing three runs on three hits and struck out 12.

Dusty Deutz led DB with a hit and an RBI while Codie Johnson, Ryan Lund and Preston Johnson each had a hit and Brayden Hahn had two RBI.

Codie Johnson took the loss on the mound, going five innings while allowing seven runs on seven hits and struck out three.

Against LQPV, Hunter Magnuson led Lakeview with a hit and an RBI while Herigon added a hit.

Brock Kvistad took the loss on the mound, going five innings while allowing two runs on one hit and struck out five.

Lakeview finishes its regular season with a 3-12 record and will start section tournament play later this week while DB finishes its regular season with a 3-10 record and will start section tournament play later this week.

KERKHOVEN — The Lakeview softball team dropped a pair of games against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg on Tuesday, falling in game one 22-6 in five innings and 27-11 in four innings in game two.

In game one, Kiana Imes led Lakeview with two hits and two RBI while Teegan Fiene, McKenzy Grunewald, Natasha Blomme and Kiara Hinz each had a hit and Grace Rausch and Kaitlynn Bot each had an RBI.

Bot took the loss in the circle, going 3 2/3 innings while allowing 22 runs on 10 hits and struck out four.

In game two, Bot led Lakeview with two hits and two RBI while Olivia Hinz and Grunewald each had a hit and two RBI and Rausch and Blomme each had a hit and an RBI.

Rausch took the loss in the circle, going 3 2/3 innings while allowing 27 runs on 12 hits and struck out three.

Lakeview finishes its regular season with a 5-15 record and will start section tournament play later this week.

Adrian 10,

Minneota/Canby 9

MINNEOTA — The Minneota/Canby softball team fell to Adrian 10-9 on Tuesday.

Abby Hennen led Minneota/Canby with three hits, including two home runs, and four RBI while Audra Buysse had four hits and an RBI, Ashlee Cole had three hits and an RBI and Abby Rost, Lexi Sanow and Ava Larson each had a hit and an RBI.

Larson took the loss in the circle, going seven innings while allowing 10 runs on 10 hits and struck out five.

Minneota/Canby finishes its regular season with a 12-8 record and will start section tournament play later this week.
