AREA SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall A’s fall 8-0 to Harrisburg Hops after rain out
MARSHALL– Friday’s amateur baseball matchup between the Marshall A’s and Harrisburg was called due to rain with the visiting Hops ahead 8-0 through seven complete innings. The game will go down as a loss for the A’s, who move to 1-1 on the season.
Rusty Swanson took the loss on the mound for the A’s after giving up five earned runs on 10 hits in three complete innings. Matt Hmielewski took over for three innings on the hill for Marshall giving up one earned run on a pair of hits.
The A’s ended the game with two hits with Matt Hmielewski going 1-3 and Peyton Grant going 1-2. Marshall stranded a total of five base-runners in the game, while the Hops left eight stranded.
Marshall will return to Legion Field on Sunday when the team hosts Willmar for a 5 p.m. ballgame.
Prep softball
COTTONWOOD — The Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove softball team improved to 10-4 on the season behind a dominant pitching peformance by Nicole Schroepfer on Friday in a 10-0 (5 innings) win over Lakeview.
Lakeview’s Kiana Imes recorded the only hit for the Lakers in the loss. Pitcher Kaitlynn Bot took the loss in the circle with nine earned runs given up on 11 hits. Bot added a strikeout and a walk in five innings pitched.
RRC/WWG’s Nicole Schroepfer finished with seven strikeouts and four walk in five complete innings pitched.
The Falcons will return to the field on Tuesday when the team travels to Sleepy Eye for a 4:30 p.m. matchup. The Lakers (4-10) will take on Canby/Minneota on Tuesday in a 4:30 home matchup.

TMB 12, MCC 1
TRACY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton softball team (12-2) kept rolling on Friday with a convincing 12-1 (5 innings) win over visiting Murray County Central for its 12th win in its last 13 games played.
The Panthers were led at the plate by Megan Surprenant, Kamryn Petersen and Camille Dolan who all recorded a pair of hits in the win. Mady Swan earned the win at pitcher for TMB after giving up one earned run and recording five strikeouts and zero walks.
MCC starting pitcher Emma Johnson took the loss after giving up 12 earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and five walks.
TMB will be on the road for its next game against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. while MCC (5-10) will host Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
