TUESDAY PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Minneota/Canby softball drops doubleheader to LQPV

MINNEOTA — The Minneota/Canby softball team fell to Lac qui Parle Valley in a doubleheader on Tuesday, dropping game one 14-3 in six innings and game two 14-4 in five innings.

In game one, Abby Rost led Minneota/Canby with two hits and two RBI while Ava Larson added a hit and an RBI and Summer Hennen had a hit. Larson took the loss in the circle, going six innings while allowing 14 runs on 13 hits and struck out five.

In game two, Larson led with two hits and three RBI while Abby Rost added a hit. Larson took the loss in the circle in relief, going 1 2/3 innings while allowing seven runs on four hits. Abby Hennen earned the start, tossing three innings while allowing seven runs on three hits and struck out two.

Minneota/Canby (2-3) will face Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg today at home in a doubleheader at 4:30 p.m.

NEW ULM — The Wabasso boys and girls golf teams competed at the New Ulm Cathedral Invite on Tuesday, with the boys team placing seventh with a team score of 462 and the girls team recording an incomplete team score.

On the boys side, Wabasso was led by Jayden Carlson who shot 100 while Ashton Thein had a 106, Spencer Rohlik had a 123 and Jamison Rohlik had a 133 to round out their scores.

On the girls side, Jocelyn Jenniges was the lone golfer for Wabasso, firing a round of 125.

Wabasso will compete next today at home against Minnesota Valley Lutheran.
