SMSU GOLF: Mustangs close weekend with sixth place finish at Augustana

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Southwest Minnesota State women’s team shot a final round score of 333 on Sunday to finish with a two-round score of 660 and earn a sixth place at the 13-team Augustana Invite played at Elmwood Golf Course.

The University of Sioux Falls (306-306–312) won the tournament by one-shot over Augustana. USF’s Lexi Hanson won the individual title with a score of 4-over 148.

SMSU’s Jacqueline Gossen shot a 12-over 84 on Sunday to finish the tournament with at 19-over 163 to finish in a tie for 20th. Sally Gallagher was one of three SMSU players with an 11-over 83 and placed tied for 26th overall with a 21-over 165. Lauryn Driscoll placed 34th overall with a 23-over 167 following a round of 14-over 86 on Sunday. Hannah Kohls shot an 83 on Sunday and tied for 35th overall at 24-over 168, while Anneke Weg also shot an 83 on Sunday and recorded a two-round score of 26-over 170 to finish tied for 41st.

SMSU had four play as individuals on the weekend with Courtni Frank carding a 16-over 88 on Sunday to finish tied for 51st at 173. Ashley Trongard shot an 89 on Sunday to close the weekend at 175, with Sydney Noel shooting a 14-over 86 on Sunday to finish with a 176. Natalie Bohnert shot a 92 in the final round to finish two a two-day total of 184.

Southwest Minnesota State will now prepare for the NSIC Championships next Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Dacotah Ridge Golf Club in Morton,.
