TUESDAY PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall wrestling drops pair of duals in Montevideo

MONTEVIDEO — A couple of area wrestling teams competed in the Dawson-Boyd-Lac qui Parle-Montevideo United triangular on Tuesday. Marshall dropped a pair of duals, falling to United 32-25 and BBE 42-27. United also fell to BBE 44-21.

For Marshall, against United, Brett Regnier and Tate Condezo won by major decision while Dylan Louwagie won by fall, Mitchell Bouwman won by forfeit and Spencer Wambeke and Grant Louwagie won by decision. Kameron Sather and Dain Mortenson won by major decision while Daniel Gunlogson, Avery Wittnebel, Holt Larson and Parker Bothun won by decision and Zander Clausen and Kadin Huntley won by fall for United.

Against BBE, Dylan Louwagie, Bouwman and Wambeke won by major decision while Condezo won by decision and Kaiden Otto and Grant Louwagie won by fall for Marshall.

For United, against BBE, Sather, Gunlogson and Mortenson won by decision while Wittnebel and Trey Teichert won by fall.

Marshall will compete today on the road at Pipestone Area at 5 p.m. while United will compete today at home against Wabasso and TMB/WWG at 5 p.m.

Wabasso

WABASSO — Multiple area wrestling teams competed in the Wabasso triangular on Tuesday. Minneota earned a pair of victories, defeating Canby 48-19 and Wabasso 61-16. Canby also defeated Wabasso 40-34.

For Minneota, against Canby, Destin Fier and Eric Carrasco won by decision while Peyton Gillund, Troy VanKeulen, Zack Fier, Jonah Gruenes and Branden Johnson won by fall and Jackson Esping and Jayden Gamrak won by forfeit. Lincoln Fink won by major decision while Nick Wagner, Tanner Drietz and Parker Verhelst won by decision and Josh Steffen won by fall for Canby.

Against Wabasso, Destin Fier, Gillund, Hudson Scholten and Gamrak won by fall while Carrasco, Brock Fier, VanKeulen and Jonah Gruenes won by forfeit, Eli Gruenes and Zack Fier won by tech fall and Esping won by decision for Minneota. Chase Irlbeck and Tyler Bliss won by fall while Carter Benz won by major decision for Wabasso.

For Wabasso, against Canby, Gabe Martin won by major decision while Benz, Ty Altermatt, Bliss and Hunter Taylor won by fall and Jaxon Fischer won by forfeit. Eli Greenman and Issac Guzman won by decision, Lane Fink, Blake Giese, Lincoln Fink, Wagner and Steffen won by fall while Tanner Drietz won by major decision for Canby.

Wabasso will compete today at United at 5 p.m. while Minneota will compete at Springfield today at 5 p.m. and Canby will compete on Friday at Fulda/MCC at 5 p.m.

Boys basketball

TMB 69, YME 36

TRACY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton boys basketball team defeated Yellow Medicine East 69-36 on Tuesday.

Noah Swenhaugen led TMB with 16 points while Jake Turner added 13 and Trevor Smith had eight. Turner led in rebounds with eight while Smith led in assists with four.

Cody Dahlager led YME with 11 points while Isaac Jimenez had five and Caleb Jans had four. Jans led in rebounds with four while Dahlager led in assists with two.

TMB (9-5) will face LQPV at home on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. while YME (0-14) will face RTR at home on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

Montevideo 75,

DB 58

DAWSON — The Dawson-Boyd boys basketball team fell to Montevideo 75-58 on Tuesday.

Micah Olson led DB with 20 points while Gauge Liebl added 19 and Keegon Wicht had seven. Liebl led in rebounds with 11 while Zeke Sather led in blocks with one.

DB (2-12) will face MACCRAY on the road today at 7:15 p.m.

MCC 71,

Adrian/Ellsworth 40

ADRIAN — The Murray County Central boys basketball team defeated Adrian/Ellsworth 71-40 on Monday.

Blake Schmitz led MCC with 19 points while Colton Mitchell added 10 and Dylan Johnson and Nate Kleven each had nine. Schmitz and Chant Mitchell led in rebounds with six each while Schmitz, Johnson and Chant Mitchell led in assists with three each.

MCC (8-4) will face WWG today at home at 7:15 p.m.

Girls basketball

TMB 46,

Lakeview 36

COTTONWOOD — The Lakeview girls basketball team fell to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 46-36 on Tuesday.

Shelby Gravley led Lakeview with 14 points while Savanna Louwagie added 11 and Kiana Imes recorded six. Gravley led in rebounds with 11 while Savanna Louwagie led in assists with four.

No TMB stats were available at press time.

Lakeview (8-6) will face YME on the road on Friday at 7:15 p.m. while TMB (10-4) will face RTR at home on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

Wabasso 62,

HLO/Fulda 32

HERON LAKE — The Wabasso girls basketball team defeated Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 62-32 on Tuesday.

Sarah Franta led Wabasso with 21 points while Bella Brand added 12 and Kelsey Frank and Avery Carlson each had nine. Franta and Ashlyn Daub led in rebounds with six each while Franta led in assists with four.

Wabasso (8-5) will face Sleepy Eye at home today at 7:15 p.m.
