SMSU TENNIS: SMSU drops non-conference match Friday in Missouri
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s tennis team played a strong opponent from the Mid-America Athletic Association for the second straight on Friday morning dropping a 7-0 match to Missouri Western State at the Genesis Health Club.
SMSU drops to 4-2 on the season after suffering its second straight loss. The Mustangs lost at Northwest Missouri State on Thursday afternoon.
The Griffons (3-1) earned the doubles point on Friday as SMSU’s Courtenay Leonard and Maja Louisa Harck lost 6-3 at No. 1, Gwendolen Sior and Cora Delich lost 6-1 at No. 2, and Maegan Flight and Silvia Poulakidas dropped a 6-1 match at No. 3.
In singles action, Flight lost 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1, Leonard fell at No. 2 by scores of 6-2, 6-0, while Delich lost at No. 3, 6-3, 6-0. At No. 4, Harck lost 6-2, 6-1, Sior lost 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5, while Poulakidas lost at No. 6, 6-0, 6-1.
Southwest Minnesota State continues play against the MIAA today with a 6:30 p.m. match versus Nebraska-Kearney at Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, S.D.
