TUESDAY PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Minneota boys basketball edges TMB, 44-43

TRACY — The Minneota boys basketball team defeated Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 44-43 on Tuesday.

Jacob Hennen led Minneota with 20 points while Jacob Citterman added 10 and AJ Josephson and Cale Sorenson each had five. Hennen led in rebounds with six while Max Rost and Hennen led in assists with one each.

Tony Nelson led TMB with 16 points while Trevor Smith added 15 and Jake Turner had 10. Nelson led in rebounds with 12 while Matt Munson led in assists with four.

Minneota (5-5) will face YME at home on Friday at 7:15 p.m. while TMB (7-3) will face Lakeview on the road on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

RTR 65,

Lakeview 57

TYLER — The Lakeview boys basketball team fell to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 65-57 on Tuesday.

Nathan Fenske led Lakeview with 20 points while Owen Louwagie added 12 and Colby Marczak had 11. Marczak led in rebounds with seven while Louwagie led in steals with four.

Aiden Wichmann and Hayden Gravley led RTR with 17 points each while Dylan Anderson led in rebounds with nine.

Lakeview (5-5) will face TMB at home on Friday at 7:15 p.m. while RTR (5-4) will face Canby on the road on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

SWC 60, WWG 59

WESTBROOK — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove boys basketball team fell to Southwest Minnesota Christian 60-59 on Tuesday.

Ethan Mischke led WWG with 26 points while Hunter Lien added 14 and Coltin Pilaczynski had nine. Pilaczynski led in rebounds with 15 while Mischke led in assists with six.

WWG (6-3) will face Edgerton on the road on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

HLO/Fulda 63,

MCC 30

SLAYTON — The Murray County Central boys basketball team fell to Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 63-30 on Tuesday.

Chant Mitchell led MCC with nine points while Christian Tentinger added six and Nate Kleven had five. Blake Schmitz led in rebounds with six while Dylan Johnson led in steals with two.

MCC (4-4) will face MLA/Comfrey at home on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

Girls basketball

RCW 46, DB 32

RENVILLE — The Dawson-Boyd girls basketball team fell to Renville County West 46-32 on Tuesday.

Chelsie Husby led DB with 13 points while Ella Johnson added six and Paige Conover had five. Husby and Rachael Lund led in rebounds with eight each while Kate Dahl led in assists with two.

DB (1-9) will face LQPV at home today at 7:15 p.m.

Sleepy Eye

St. Mary’s 94,

Wabasso 37

SLEEPY EYE — The Wabasso girls basketball team fell to Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s 94-37 on Tuesday.

Sarah Franta led Wabasso with 10 points while Kelsey Frank added eight and Avery Carlson had seven. Carlson led in rebounds with six while Franta led in assists with four.

Wabasso (5-4) will face GFW at home on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

Wrestling

Minneota triangular

MINNEOTA — A few area wrestling teams competed at the Minneota triangular on Tuesday. Minneota earned a pair of victories, defeating Quad County 66-9 and Wabasso 69-6. Wabasso also defeated QC 46-36.

For Minneota, against QC, Adam DeVlaeminck, Destin Fier, Troy VanKeulen, Zack Fier, Alex Depestel, Hudson Scholten and Jayden Gamrak won by fall while Peyton Gillund and Jackson Esping won by forfeit, Eric Carrasco won by major decision, Kade Lozinski won by decision and Jonah Gruenes won by tech fall. Hunter Ridler won by decision and Nolan Hildahl won by fall for QC.

Against Wabasso, DeVlaeminck, Depestel and Branden Johnson won by decision, Destin Fier, Gillund, Lozinski, Eli Gruenes, Zack Fier, Jonah Gruenes, Scholten, Esping and Barry Gronke won by fall and Carrasco won by forfeit for Minneota. Tyler Bliss won by fall for Wabasso’s lone points.

For Wabasso, against QC, Kaysen Harms, Chase Irlbeck, Carter Benz, Bliss and Hunter Taylor won by fall while Preston Remiger and Sam Welch won by forfeit and Gabe Martin won by major decision. Tarrick Rupp, Luke Kluver, Hunter Wilke, Abel Chaparro and Ridler won by fall while Austin Sweep won by forfeit for QC.

Minneota will compete at KMS today at 5 p.m. while QC will compete today at home against Fulda/MCC and United at 5 p.m. and Wabasso will compete on Saturday at home against BOLD and Redwood Valley at noon.

WASECA — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove wrestling team earned a pair of wins at the Waseca triangular on Tuesday, defeating Windom/Mountain Lake 49-11 and Waseca 40-30.

Against Windom/ML, Linkoln Carlson, Jacob Meyer and Caden Johnson won by decision while Devin Carter, Alexander Schuh, Gabe Krick and Noah Ortiz won by fall and Kalvin Crumrine and Eathan Martinez won by forfeit.

Against Waseca, Ayden Horner, Ortiz, Johnson, Martinez and Travis Willhite won by fall while Meyer won by decision and Jonathon Erbes won by forfeit for TMB/WWG.

TMB/WWG will compete at KMS today at 5 p.m.

WWG 44, MCC 35

WESTBROOK — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove girls basketball team defeated Murray County Central 44-35 on Monday.

Beth Byers led WWG with 12 points while Abby Wiggins added 10 and Isabel Klumper had eight. No other stats were available at press time.

WWG (4-6) will face Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda next Tuesday at home at 7:15 p.m.
