BURNSVILLE -- Southwest Minnesota State University senior Rebecca Manteuffel was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week for her performance this past Sunday at the College of Saint Benedict Tri-Meet in Collegeville.
Manteuffel, a native of Cologne, had a record-setting day in capturing a pair of first place titles at the meet. She set a school record with an NCAA provisional toss of 19.59m in the weight throw, which also ranks as the top throw in Division II this season. The mark is the highest among all Division II competitors this season, besting the previous season-high of 19.33m by Carrol Pauley from Ashland (Ohio) and Judith Essemiah from Grand Valley State (Mich.).
Manteuffel also won the shot put on Sunday with throw of 13.44m.
It's the second time she has garnered the weekly NSIC award in her career after earning the honor on Feb. 4, 2020.
Manteuffel, a 2020 NCAA Indoor All-American in the weight throw and a 2019 NCAA Outdoor All-American in the discus, is a 2017 graduate of Mayer Lutheran High School.
Southwest Minnesota State resumes competition this Saturday with a meet at Concordia College in Moorhead.
