PREP WRESTLING: Marshall splits pair of duals against Waconia, TMB/WWG

MARSHALL — The Marshall wrestling team split a pair of duals against Waconia and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Thursday, falling to Waconia 50-24 and defeating TMB/WWG 42-20. TMB/WWG fell to Waconia 48-12 earlier in the meet.
Waconia 50,
Marshall 24
Waconia jumped out to a strong start, getting a pair of pins and a tech fall victory in the first three bouts to take a 17-0 lead, but Marshall answered right back with three straight wins by a Brett Regnier decision and pins from Dylan Louwagie and Tate Condezo to cut the deficit to two at 17-15. But that was the closest Marshall got, as Waconia won the next five bouts by pin to extend its lead to 47-15. Spencer Wambeke would get a decision victory at 195 pounds and Keiton Walerius earned a pin at 285 pounds for Marshall to bring it to the 50-24 final.
Marshall 42,
TMB/WWG 20
The matchup between Marshall and TMB/WWG was tight to start, as the Panthers got a decision victory from Linkoln Carlson and a major decision from Devin Carter before Marshall earned a decision from Drew Chandler to cut the deficit to 7-3. The two teams traded points over the next few bouts, with Alexander Schuh getting a pin for TMB/WWG and Dylan Louwagie and Condezo earning a decision and a pin, respectively, for Marshall before Josh Kraft got a pin at 145 pounds to give MHS an 18-13 lead.
Marshall continued to hold onto its advantage, with Tucker Fiene winning by decision and Mitchell Bouwman getting a pin to make it 27-17, but TMB/WWG wouldn’t go down without a fight, as Caden Johnson earned a decision victory to cut the deficit to 27-20 after 182 pounds. But that was the closest the Panthers got, as Cole Felcyn got a pin to give Marshall a 33-20 lead before Wambeke won by decision and Grant Louwagie won by pin to seal the victory for Marshall.
Waconia 48,
TMB/WWG 12
Before TMB/WWG faced Marshall, it took on Waconia. The Wildcats got out to an early 11-0 lead, but TMB/WWG earned decision victories from Alexander Schuh and Jayden Torgeson and a pin from Ayden Horner to take a 12-11 lead. Waconia would respond, though, winning the final eight bouts to earn the 48-12 victory.

Marshall will compete again next Thursday at home against Redwood Valley and Adrian at 5 p.m. while TMB/WWG will compete next on Tuesday at Waseca at 5 p.m.
