PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: TMB girls basketball edges CMCS, 59-53

TRACY – In a game featuring two of the top girls basketball teams in the Camden Conference, it was Tracy-Milroy-Balaton that came out on top with a 59-53 win over Central Minnesota Christian School on Friday.

Jordan Munson led the way for TMB with 22 points and five assists.

Jadyn Lessman and Kiarra Danielson added 12 points apiece in the win.

TMB (9-3) will travel to Pipestone Area on Monday.

RRC 77, HLO/F 55

OKABENA – Red Rock Central defeated Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 77-55 on Friday.

Nicole Schroepfer scored a game-high 30 points to lead RRC. Karli Arkell added 21 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks. Lily Stavnes finished with 13 points and five assists.

RRC (9-3) will travel to Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Monday.

Montevideo 81,

DB 17

DAWSON – Montevideo cruised to an 81-17 win over Dawson-Boyd on Friday.

Rachael Lund led the way for the Blackjacks with five points, while Paige Conover and Laney Bartunek added four points apiece. Kate Dahl and Alexis Breitenstei also scored a basket each for DB.

Avery Koenen scored a game-high 23 points for Montevideo.

DB (1-12) will host MACCRAY on Thursday.

Boys basketball

RTR 80, DB 68

DAWSON — The Dawson-Boyd boys basketball team fell to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 80-68 on Thursday.

Gauge Liebl led DB with 28 points while Keegon Wicht added 10 and Collin Swedzinski had eight. Liebl led in rebounds with 11 while Wicht, Caleb Torke and Zeke Sather led in assists with three each.

Aiden Wichmann led RTR with 20 points while Dylan Anderson added 15, Hayden Gravley had 14, Jonah Christensen had 13 and Darrick Baartman had 10. Anderson led in rebounds with six while Wichmann led in assists with two.

DB (2-10) will face CMCS at home on Monday at 7:15 p.m. while RTR (7-4) will face RCW on the road today at 3:30 p.m.

Lakeview 83,

Canby 78 (OT)

CANBY — The Lakeview boys basketball team defeated Canby 83-78 in overtime on Thursday.

Nathan Fenske led Lakeview with 24 points while Colby Marczak added 19, Ethan Schwankl had 15 and Taivan Isaackson had 12. Marczak led in rebounds with nine while Fenske led in assists with four.

Evan Weber led Canby with 22 points while Will Varcoe added 17, Ty Stoks had 16 and Trevor Gray had 11. Varcoe led in rebounds with seven while Jordan Ries, Stoks and Weber led in assists with four each.

Canby (2-11) will face Minneota on the road on Monday at 7:15 p.m.

WWG 84,

Adrian/Ellsworth 50

WESTBROOK — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove boys basketball team defeated Adrian/Ellsworth 84-50 on Thursday.

Hunter Lien led WWG with 18 points while Ethan Mischke added 16 and Cole VanDeWiele had 13. No other stats were available at press time.

WWG (9-3) will face Edgerton at home today at 3:30 p.m.

MCC 58,

Pipestone Area 53

SLAYTON — The Murray County Central boys basketball team defeated Pipestone Area 58-53 on Thursday.

Blake Schmitz led MCC with 23 points while Chant Mitchell added 16 and Nate Kleven had nine. Chant Mitchell led in rebounds with 12 while Schmitz led in assists with six.

Montevideo 82,

YME 61

MONTEVIDEO — The Yellow Medicine East boys basketball team fell to Montevideo 82-61 on Thursday.

Isaac Jimenez led YME with 16 points while Caleb Jans added 13 and Nikson Knapper had 12. Landon Anderson led in rebounds with four while Jimenez led in assists with three.

YME (0-13) will face TMB on the road on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Wabasso 62,

NUC 38

NEW ULM — The Wabasso boys basketball team defeated New Ulm Cathedral 62-38 on Thursday.

Will Carlson led Wabasso with 14 points while Sam Fenger and Isaac Kronback each added 11 and Jayden Goblish had eight. No other stats were available at press time.

Wabasso (6-6) will face HLO/Fulda on the road on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Wrestling

Wabasso 34,

Ortonville 33

WABASSO — The Wabasso wrestling team defeated Ortonville 34-33 on Thursday.

Gabe Martin, Carter Benz and Ezekiel Olson won by forfeit, Chase Irlbeck won by major decision and Ty Altermatt and Sam Welch won by fall for Wabasso.

Wabasso will compete today at JCC at 2 p.m.

Fulda/MCC

SLAYTON — Multiple area wrestling teams competed in the Fulda/MCC triangular on Thursday. Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove earned a pair of victories, defeating Fulda/MCC 62-12 and Red Rock Central 51-18. RRC also defeated Fulda/MCC 47-28.

For TMB/WWG, against RRC, Linkoln Carlson, Caden Johnson and Eathan Martinez won by decision, David Schuh, Alexander Schuh, Jayden Torgeson, Gabe Krick and Travis Willhite won by fall and Devin Carter and Ayden Horner won by forfeit. Zakary Zimmerman and Cory Anderson won by decision and Damon Holmen and Damian Osland won by fall for RRC.

Against Fulda/MCC, Carlson, David Schuh, Carter, Alexander Schuh, Torgeson, Krick, Johnson and Nic Willhite won by fall, Horner won by tech fall, Travis Willhite won by forfeit and Jacob Meyer won by decision for TMB/WWG. Denver Ash and Jesse Ray won by decision and Christian Kuball won by fall for Fulda/MCC.

For RRC, against Fulda/MCC, Evan Bartholomaus, Ryon Zdimmerman, Holmen, Payton Harazin, Vander Mathiowetz and Austin Cowan won by fall, Zimmerman and Carter Beranek won by decision and Anderson won by forfeit. Torrin Clarke won by decision while Aiden Lorenzen, Owen Olsem, Kuball and Ryder Henning won by fall for Fulda/MCC.

TMB/WWG will compete today at home against United and Adrian/Ellsworth at noon while Fulda/MCC will compete today at JCC at 2 p.m.
