TUESDAY PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall wrestling earns split in Worthington

WORTHINGTON — The Marshall wrestling team split a pair of matches on Tuesday, defeating New Ulm Area 42-30 and falling to Worthington 36-27.

Against New Ulm Area, Drew Chandler, Brett Regnier, Dylan Louwagie, Tate Condezo, Tucker Fiene and Grant Louwagie won by fall while Christian Vlaminck and Josh Kraft won by decision for Marshall.

Against Worthington, Landon Marthaler, Regnier, Dylan Louwagie and Kraft won by fall while Grant Louwagie won by decision for Marshall.

Grant Louwagie also reached a milestone during Tuesday’s meet, recording his 100th career win.

Marshall (3-1) will compete again today against Minneota and Morris Area at 5 p.m.

Boys basketball

Marshall 88,

Windom Area 59

WINDOM — The Marshall boys basketball team defeated Windom Area 88-59 on Tuesday.

Bryce Lance led Marshall with 22 points while Josh Baker added 13 and Brevin Runia and Noah Wilts each had 11. Benson Kuecker led in rebounds with six while Lance and Baker led in assists with three each.

Marshall (2-0) will face JCC on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

RCW 63,

Lakeview 38

RENVILLE — The Lakeview boys basketball team fell to Renville County West 63-38 on Tuesday.

Nathan Fenske led Lakeview with 21 points while Colby Marczak added five. Marczak led in rebounds with 12 while Marczak, Aaron Lienemann and Owen Louwagie led in assists with one each.

Lakeview (0-2) will face CMCS on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

Girls basketball

Wabasso 53,

GFW 37

WINTHROP — The Wabasso girls basketball team defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 53-37 on Tuesday.

Sarah Franta led Wabasso with 27 points while Avery Carlson added 14 and Madeline Hanna had 10. Franta led in rebounds with 11 while Madeline Hanna led in assists with three.

Wabasso (1-1) will face MVL today at 7:15 p.m.

WWG 52,

HLO/Fulda 47

FULDA — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove girls basketball team defeated Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 52-47 on Tuesday.

Isabel Klumper led WWG with 19 points while Olivia Klumper and Bethany Byers each added 12. No other stats were available at press time.

WWG (2-0) will face HBC today at 7:15 p.m.

RRC 81, MCC 54

SLAYTON — The Red Rock Central girls basketball team defeated Murray County Central 81-54 on Tuesday.

Karli Arkell led RRC with 23 points while Nicole Schroepfer and Lily Stavnes each added 16. Arkell also led in rebounds with 19 while Schroepfer led in assists with nine.

No stats for MCC were available at press time.

RRC (2-0) will face HLO/Fulda today at 7:15 p.m. while MCC (0-1) will face SWC today at 7:15 p.m.
