TUESDAY PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall boys hockey falls to New Ulm, 9-1

NEW ULM — The Marshall boys hockey team fell to New Ulm 9-1 on Tuesday.

New Ulm jumped out to a quick start, scoring three goals a few minutes apart to take a 3-0 lead. Marshall would get on the board with a power-play goal from Jared Reinsma on the assist from Corbin Beernaert to make it 3-1, but the Eagles answered a few seconds later to push the lead back to three after the opening period.

New Ulm wasn’t done there, though, adding a couple of goals in the second before finding the back of the net three times in the third to earn the 9-1 victory.

New Ulm outshot Marshall 39-13 on the game. Gavin Welsh recorded 30 saves in net for Marshall.

Marshall (0-4) will host Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato on Friday at 7 p.m.

Boys basketball

Lakeview 64, DB 51

DAWSON — The Lakeview boys basketball team defeated Dawson-Boyd 64-51 on Tuesday.

Nathan Fenske led Lakeview with 20 points while Colby Marczak added 13 and Taivan Isaacson had 12. Ethan Schwankl led in rebounds with nine while Fenske and Jackson Klocow led in assists with two each.

Keegon Wicht led DB with 21 points while Gauge Liebl added eight and Micah Olson had seven. Collin Swedzinski and Wicht led in rebounds with six each while Wicht and Braxton Hahn led in assists with two each.

Lakeview (1-3) will face KMS at home today at 7:15 p.m. while DB (1-3) will face TMB on the road today at 7:15 p.m.

MCC 54,

Edgerton 44

EDGERTON — The Murray County Central boys basketball team defeated Edgerton 54-44 on Tuesday.

Tanner Graphenteen led MCC with 22 points while Blake Schmitz added 17 and Colton Mitchell had five. Schmitz and Nate Kleven led in rebounds with eight each while Schmitz led in assists with seven.

MCC (2-1) will face Adrian/Ellsworth at home on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

Windom Area 70, WWG 60

WESTBROOK — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove boys basketball team fell to Windom Area 70-60 on Tuesday.

Ethan Mischke led WWG with 20 points while Hunter Lien added 17 and Nathan Kuehl had 15. No other stats were available at press time.

WWG (2-2) will face RRC at home on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

Girls basketball

TMB 73,

Canby 63 (OT)

CANBY — The Canby girls basketball team fell to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 73-63 in overtime on Tuesday.

Hannah Jelen led Canby with 23 points while Kortney Leppke added 12 and Morgan Noyes had 11. Maya Wente led in rebounds with nine while Jelen led in assists with five.

No TMB stats were available at press time.

Canby (1-2) will face RCW on the road today at 7:15 p.m. while TMB (3-0) will face Windom Area at home on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

Minneota 67,

Lakeview 28

COTTONWOOD — The Minneota girls basketball team defeated Lakeview 67-28 on Tuesday.

Abby Hennen led Minneota with 16 points while Natalee Rolbiecki and McKenna Yost each added 12 and Abby Rost had eight. Abby Hennen led in rebounds with five while Abby Rost and Ireland Stassen led in steals with six each.

Shelby Gravley led Lakeview with 13 points while Kiana Imes added six and Faith Louwagie had three. Gravley led in rebounds with nine while Imes led in steals with three.

Minneota (4-0) will face BBE at home on Friday at 7:15 p.m. while Lakeview (3-1) will face MCC at home on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

Wrestling

TMB/WWG

TRACY — A couple of area teams competed in the TMB/WWG triangular on Tuesday. Canby defeated Madelia/Truman/Martin Luther 81-0 and TMB/WWG 39-34 while TMB/WWG defeated MTML 78-3.

For Canby, against MTML, Clayton Drietz, Eli Greenman, Nick Wagner, Sawyer Verhelst, Parker Verhelst, Josh Steffen, Shane Noyes and Gavin Noyes all won by forfeit while Sam Drietz, Blake Giese, Lane Fink, Easton Antony and Tanner Drietz won by fall and Lincoln Fink won by decision.

Against TMB/WWG, Greenman, Giese, Lane Fink, Tanner Drietz and Shane Noyes won by fall while Steffen won by forfeit and Lincoln Fink won by decision for Canby. Linkoln Carlson, Ayden Horner and Travis Willhite won by fall while Devin Carter won by tech fall, Alexander Schuh won by decision and Gabe Krick and Caden Johnson won by major decision for TMB/WWG.

For TMB/WWG, against MTML, Carlson, David Schuh, Horner, Ashton Squires, Noah Ortiz, Johnson, Eathan Martinez, Travis Willhite and Nic Willhite all won by forfeit while Carter, Jeret Ankrum, Alexander Schuh and Krick won by fall.

TMB/WWG will compete next on Friday at Quad County at 5 p.m. while Canby will compete on Friday at home against United at 5 p.m.

Springfield

SPRINGFIELD — The Wabasso wrestling team earned a pair of dual victories in the Springfield triangular on Tuesday, defeating BOLD 57-20 and Springfield 45-30.

Against BOLD, Ashton Weidemann, Chase Irlbeck, Carter Benz and Tyler Bliss won by fall while William Flowers, Preston Remiger, Adryen Tietz, Sam Welch and Hunter Taylor won by forfeit and Gabe Martin won by decision for Wabasso.

Against Springfield, Kaysen Harms, Weidemann, Benz and Welch won by fall while Tietz, Garret Marotzke and Martin won by forfeit and Taylor won by decision for Wabasso.

Wabasso will compete next on Friday at Quad County at 5 p.m.
