MARSHALL — The Southwest Minnesota State University softball program will be hosting a “Prospect Camp” for grades 9-12, along with a “Four-Week Academy” for grades 4-12 during the month of January inside the PE Gym on the campus of SMSU.

The “Prospect Camp” will take place on Jan. 16 and is designed for high school players that want to take their game to the next level. The Pitching/Catching portion of the camp will be from 10 a.m to 11 a.m., while the Fielding/Hitting camp will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The drills during the camp will emulate a Division II college practice, personalized instruction by the SMSU coaching staff and will include a campus tour and t-shirt. The cost is $75.

The “Four-Week Academy” for players in grades 4-12, will take place Jan. 10, 17, 24 and 31 and will run each day from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The four-week academcy features both “pitching & catching skills academy” and a “hitting & fielding skills academy”. Players can sign-up for either session or can sign-up for both with the “bundle” package.

The cost for either the “pitching & catching” session or “hitting & fielding” session is $75 for students in grades 4-7 and $125 for students in grades 8-12.

The cost is just $125 to attend both sessions for players in grades 4-7 and $200 for students in grades 8-12.

All individuals attending camp MUST wear a mask due to COVID-19 regulations.

Each pitcher attending the camp must bring their own catcher (an adult is preferred). Catchers must bring catching gear, glove and tennis shoes. Individuals attending the hitting and fielding session must bring a bat, glove, shoes and helmet.
