Marshall swimming and diving can’t get past Melrose Area

MELROSE — The Marshall girls swimming and diving team hit the road to face Melrose Area in a dual meet on Tuesday. Marshall was able to tie the score and cut its deficit to within two at points throughout the meet, but ultimately fell 104-82.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Mansi Bell, Emma Beavers, Hailey Brandt and Kaylie Stucke took second with a time of 2:02.49 while the team of Alli Kopitski, Maddie Larson, Alana Condezo and Clara Bader took third with a time of 2:07.33 and the team of Elizabeth Coudron, Holly Netzley, Jessica Wyffels and Paige Milstead took sixth with a time of 2:24.51. In the 200-yard freestyle, Condezo took second with a time of 2:11.26 while Tera Johnson took fifth with a time of 2:16.75 and Beavers took sixth with a time of 2:17.33. In the 200-yard individual medley, Marshall took three of the top four spots, with Hailey Brandt taking first (2:22.96), Maddie Larson taking third (2:29.59) and Kopitski taking fourth (2:34.09).

In the 50-yard freestyle, Stucke took second with a time of 27.66 seconds while Bader took third with a time of 27.78 seconds and Alex Larson took fifth with a time of 29.07 seconds. In the 1-meter dive, Reagan Brandt took third with a score of 154.05 while Bader took fourth with a score of 146.35 and Brooklyn Gossen took sixth with a score of 139.20. The 100-yard butterfly also saw Marshall take three of the top four spots, with Hailey Brandt placing first (1:04.32), Condezo placing third (1:08.80) and Mansi Bell placing fourth (1:10.44).

In the 100-yard freestyle, Johnson took third with a time of 1:02.21 while Grace Rokeh took fourth with a time of 1:03.25 and Netzley took sixth with a time of 1:04.52. The 500-yard freestyle was another strong event for Marshall, who took three of the top four spots for the third time. Stucke took first with a time of 5:45.69 while Kopitski took second (5:53.43) and Reagan Brandt took fourth (6:04.65).

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Alex Larson, Condezo, Bader and Hailey Brandt took second with a time of 1:51.01 while the team of Maddie Larson, Autumn Deutz, Johnson and Beavers took fourth with a time of 1:56.72 and the team of Reagan Brandt, Gossen, Rokeh and Mary Lanoue took fifth with a time of 1:58.87. In the 100-yard backstroke, Mansi Bell took third with a time of 1:10.12 while Alex Larson took fifth with a time of 1:15.11 and Deutz took sixth with a time of 1:16.61.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Beavers took second with a time of 1:16.36 while Maddie Larson took third with a time of 1:16.69 and Netzley took sixth with a time of 1:24.29. Finally, in the 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of Johnson, Stucke, Kopitski and Netzley took second with a time of 4:13.89 while the team of Alex Larson, Mansi Bell, Rokeh and Reagan Brandt took fourth with a time of 4:21.91 to round out their times.

Marshall will compete again on Thursday against St. Peter at 6 p.m. in St. Peter.
