Marshall tennis falls to Luverne, 4-3
LUVERNE — The Marshall girls tennis team fell to Luverne 4-3 on Monday.
Marshall and Luverne split the singles matches at two apiece, but Luverne was able to win two of the three doubles matches to earn the victory.
At No. 1 singles, Gionna Parsa defeated Luverne’s Roz Oye 7-5, 6-3 while Luverne’s Elise Jerchow defeated Eden Knudson 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 singles, Luverne’s Aiuslie Robinson defeated Leah Matzner 6-0, 6-1 while Mariah Bergjord defeated Luverne’s Mia Wenzel 4-6, 6-3, 11-9 at the No. 4 spot.
In doubles action, Leah Schaefer and Regan Loft defeated Luverne’s Lauren Versteeg and Liz Kelm 6-4, 3-6, 14-12 at the No. 1 spot while Luverne’s Olivia Wieneke and Jacey Smith defeated Dani Ewing and Kaia Christensen 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 doubles, Luverne’s Brynn Thier and Kristin Reed defeated Kaylee Prins and Samantha Maher 6-0, 6-3 to earn the win.
Marshall will face Pipestone Area on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
